MEGHAN MCCAIN: Surely, the lapdog media can’t ignore evidence Fauci lied about COVID’s origins
For too long, America’s doctor, Tony Fauci, has been above reproach for the mainstream media and Democrats in Congress.
Like convicted con man Michael Avenatti or failed New York governor/nursing home wrecker Andrew Cuomo, reporters and left-wing politicians found him too valuable to undermine.
He gave countless interviews extolling the wisdom of lockdowns. Her face appeared on the cover of Time magazine. He cleverly skewered Donald Trump. He loved that. One left-wing newspaper even declared him the “sexiest man alive.”
To them, Fauci surely could do no wrong. Though now, it’s hard to see how they’ll completely ignore this smoking gun.
On Sunday, a new Republican House inquiry dropped a bombshell. And Dr. Anthony Fauci has some explaining to do.
House Republicans have found evidence suggesting the former White House chief medical adviser secretly encouraged medical researchers to write a scholarly paper dismissing the theory that COVID-19 leaked from a Chinese lab. So San Antonio stood at the White House podium, before the American people, in the depths of the pandemic, and said he had nothing to do with it.
Strange? Yes, I would say yes.
Here’s the timeline set out by a Republican House memo:
On February 1, 2020, Fauci and more than a dozen other scientists held a conference call during which he was warned for the first time that COVID-19 could have been a man-made virus that leaked from a laboratory in Wuhan, China.
Three days later, four participants on that call drafted a document on the origins of COVID and sent it to Fauci and others for “editing and approval,” according to House researchers.

House Republicans have found evidence suggesting the former White House chief medical adviser secretly encouraged medical researchers to write a scholarly paper dismissing the theory that COVID-19 leaked from a Chinese lab.
On February 12, 2020, the article was submitted to the scientific journal Nature. He dismissed the claim that COVID had leaked from a lab as “unlikely.” And it was accompanied by an illuminating note from his co-author, who revealed that the document was “prompted” by none other than Fauci and others.
But interestingly, this is how Fauci presented the finding in that document to White House reporters on April 17, 2020, when asked if COVID could have come from a Chinese lab.
“There was a recent study,” he said, “where a group of highly-skilled evolutionary virologists looked at the sequences … in bats as they evolved and the mutations that it took to get to the point where it’s now fully consistent with a jump from a species of animal to human…’
Translation: COVID could not have leaked from a lab because it occurred naturally.
And the trick: “Then the paper will be available,” Fauci assured reporters. ‘I don’t have the authors right now, but we can make it available to you.’
‘I don’t have the authors right now’?
It appears that Fauci not only knew the authors, but directed them. So why would he hide this fact?
Trump’s Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, has a theory. “Now we know that there was American money funding the research that was going on inside that [Wuhan] lab, and I think Dr. Fauci…knew that…’ Pompeo said on Fox News on Sunday this weekend.
‘Three years ago, I was on ‘ABC’ and I said, hey, I think this seems to have come from the Wuhan Institute of Virology and [Dr. Fauci and others] they were complete battle stations. I think they were afraid that the facts we now know were true, that they had some complicity in what happened there.
It’s a startling accusation from a former secretary of state.
Let’s be clear, Pompeo alleges that the White House’s top COVID adviser was deliberately hiding the origins of the pandemic, because his fingerprints were everywhere.
As director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, Fauci was responsible for US taxpayer grants that funded coronavirus research in Asia and at the Wuhan Institute of Virology.
Now, Fauci’s actions certainly seem unethical. But more than anything else, this is an obvious red warning sign. What was he so desperate to hide that he was willing to fool the public?

To be sure, more than three years after the pandemic, the United States has not faced the depths of our public health failures.
Last week, medical science experts from Harvard, Johns Hopkins, and Stanford testified in front of Congress, saying, “The biggest perpetrator of misinformation during the pandemic has been the United States government.”
Another startling statement, but undoubtedly true.
Remember being told that you are not allowed to sit on a park bench because COVID spreads on surfaces? Remember being told to donate your masks to medical professionals and then masks are the only thing that will save your life? Remember being told we need to keep kids out of school because they are vectors of disease and suffered generational learning loss as a result?
And yet, we are trafficking in politics and virtue signaling instead of truth and scientific fact.
World number one tennis star Novak Djokovic has formally withdrawn from the upcoming BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells in California, after being denied entry to the US because he is not vaccinated.
Has almost everyone in America recovered from COVID and/or received a vaccine and endless boosters and we are still requiring healthy adults to get vaccinated? Surely, we have reached herd immunity. And have we not learned that borders cannot stop a virus? As the kids say, make it make sense.
We cannot continue to allow partisanship to compromise public health. If public health officials lied to us, then they must be held accountable. The democratically controlled Senate should join the House investigation.
And my question to Fauci is simple: Did he or did he not lie about his involvement in writing an article that dismissed the idea that COVID-19 leaked from a Chinese lab?
Take it to Congress and ask them why we deserve answers!
