Micah Richards SAVAGES Antony for ‘walking’ in 7-0 Liverpool rout
‘It was like playing with 10 men!’: Micah Richards SAVAGES Antony on his role in Liverpool’s 7-0 win, accusing the £85.5m winger of ‘walking’ and offering NO help to right-back Diogo Dalot
- Antony provided little to no protection on the right against Andy Robertson
- Former Man City winger Micah Richards left confused by Antony’s role
- He compared having the Brazilian playing with ’10 men’ for his ineffectiveness
Manchester United were “playing with 10 men” at Anfield because Antony “wasn’t doing his job” down the right wing, says Micah Richards.
The £85.5m winger’s damning indictment came after Liverpool defeated Manchester United 7-0 in a game in which they scored six second-half goals.
Former Man City right-back Richards was utterly baffled by the role Antony was playing given he offered little to no protection to right-back Diogo Dalot against the constant threat of Andy Robertson.
“There was no communication between (Diogo) Dalot and Antony, it was like playing with 10 men because Antony wasn’t doing his job on that side,” Richards said on Match of the Day 2.
“We all know how good (Andy) Robertson and Trent (Alexander-Arnold) are in full-back positions, so you’d think Antony would try to get closer to Robertson.”
Antony has been criticized for his lack of defense in the 7-0 win against Liverpool

Antony trimmed an increasingly alienated figure as the game wore on with Liverpool emboldened by the free reign they had in the wide areas.
Robertson, in particular, had plenty of space to attack on the left and Antony seemed in no mood to defend.
“He didn’t track (Robertson) to begin with, he was twenty feet away, and that was just a small taste of what was going to happen,” Richards continued.
‘Antony needed to get back to that position, but he just doesn’t.
“He was confused if he was just being lazy for his team or if his coach was just telling him to stay there and be a threat on the fast break.” Either way, it just kept happening and happening.
‘As soon as they lose the ball, he just walks. We are talking about one of the most important games for Manchester United and when they get the ball back there is no option for him to run behind because he is four yards offside.
