A TV insider told The Sun: “Getting Kylie and Jason back together is a real coup and the results are hilarious.”
“The episode is really tongue-in-cheek and they joke about their story and their music.
“Everything was kept under wraps on set to keep the two of them reuniting for the show a secret.”
Kylie and Jason appeared on screen together last year in what was thought to be the final episode of Neighbors.
The famous couple reprized their roles in a brief cameo in the latest episode of the soap opera, which has since been renewed for a new series starting later this year.
Kylie resigned from the Neighbors in June 1988, having become the first person to win four Logie Awards in one year, and the youngest to receive a gold Logie.
He then launched a phenomenally successful music career, selling more than 80 million albums worldwide.
After leaving Neighbors in 1989, Jason, like Kylie, pursued a pop career and while he may not have been as successful as his on-screen sweetheart, he had a string of hits including Too Many Broken Hearts and Sealed With A Kiss.
Off-screen, the couple dated from 1986 to 1989.
They were so popular at the time that they even recorded the Number 1 Christmas single, Especially for You.
Jason told the Mirror in 2016: “It was an extremely painful separation and it certainly took me a long time to recover.” Years, definitely.
Kylie then dated the late INXS leader, Michael Hutchence. She is now in an affair with the creative director of British GQ, Paul Solomons, and Jason is married to Angela Malloch.
Comic Relief airs on the BBC on March 17.
