Jon Jones went from winning the UFC heavyweight title to losing a pushup contest to legless mixed martial artist Zion Clark in just a few minutes on Sunday.

Jones underscored his status as the greatest MMA fighter in history by cutting Ciryl Gane like a hot knife through butter at UFC 285 in Las Vegas.

The controversial American had not fought for more than three years since vacating his light heavyweight title to bulk up for a shot at the top division.

But there were no signs of rust as he knocked out the Frenchman via first-round clinical submission in just three minutes.

Jones had plenty of energy left afterward to take on legless wrestler Zion Clark in a backstage pushup contest.

Clark was born with caudal regression syndrome, a serious disorder that affects the development of the lower spine.

Despite this, he has been able to participate and compete in numerous sports and has even turned his attention to establishing a career in MMA.

The UFC champion was filmed greeting Clark and telling him: ‘I love what you’re doing man! You are killing it. I see you, it’s a great occasion.

‘Man, God bless you, keep doing what you’re doing. Z, come on baby! I know you want to go to that push-up competition. I know you want to hit him. I also have something extra in me.

The pair then began doing push-ups together, with Jones stopping at 40 reps.

You seem to be slowing down, brother! Come on! Well, you can’t win them all,’ Clark joked.

Jones then shook Clark’s hand before heading to the locker room to prepare for his press conference.

In December, Clark made headlines for winning his first MMA fight against an able-bodied opponent at the Gladiator Challenge in San Diego.

The fight went the full three rounds before Clark was named the winner via unanimous decision.

As the judges’ decision was revealed, a delighted Clark did a backflip and returned to his corner, sending the watching crowd wild.

The former college wrestler received applause from around the world for his efforts, including UFC icon Conor McGregor.

‘Absolutely fascinating to hear about this man’s debut and now to see it. Lighting entry in the single bass [a takedown where a fighter grabs one of their opponent’s legs].

‘Wow! You must not connect with him in any way, shape or form,’ the Irishman wrote on Twitter.

‘Only frames. Frame to hit. Fascinating! Congratulations and much respect to that man Zion Clark! MMA is the best sport!’

Jones’ victory over Gane means he is now the undisputed heavyweight champion and becomes the eighth athlete to conquer two separate UFC divisions.

The win also extended Jones’ record unbeaten streak to 19 in a row, and he improved to 27-1 with a no contest.

“(Jones is) a total natural freak,” said UFC boss Dana White, “and he’s the best ever.”
