Michigan star DJ Turner II is crowned fastest man in the NFL Combine with an incredible 4.26-second 40-yard dash, just 0.04 s slower than the all-time record.
Michigan’s DJ Turner II leaves the NFL Combine as the fastest man in college football, after posting a mind-blowing 4.26-second 40-yard dash.
Cornerback Turner, 26, was only a few points ahead of former Maryland star Jakorian Bennett, who posted a 4.30… and both men were still behind the all-time record of 4.22 set by John Ross III in 2017.
Turner also had a 38 1/2-inch vertical jump, a 10-foot-11 wide safety and tied Illinois’ Jartavius Martin for the fastest time in the split drill (1.57 seconds). Martin’s 11-1 long jump was the best of any safety.
On the other hand, Bijan Robinson could be the first running back selected in this year’s NFL draft, but he was Devon Achane of Texas A&M who dueled the former star running back for the Texas Longhorns on Sunday in the league’s annual scouting combine.
Achane ran a 4.32-second 40-yard dash in the final practice session at the field in Indianapolis, one of three running backs to post times under 4.4. The others were Alabama’s Jahmyr Gibbs (4.36) and East Carolina’s Keaton Mitchell (4.37).

He also had a vertical jump of 38 1/2 inches, a width of 10 feet 11 inches and tied for the best 10-yard division.
Robinson was fifth in his position group at 4.46.
Offensive linemen and running backs were the last of the 319 combine participants to do the drills.
Illinois’ Chase Brown had the best vertical jump (40 inches) and long jump (10 feet, 7 inches) of the day, while Tulane’s Tyjae Spears was second in the vertical jump (39 inches) and third in the long jump (10 – 5) and East Carolina’s Keaton Mitchell was second in the long jump (10-6) and third in the vertical jump (38 inches).
Georgia tackle Broderick Jones had the best 40 among linemen at 4.97 seconds with former Brigham Young college tackles Blake Freeland and Oklahoma’s Anton Harrison tied for second at 4.98.
Stanford catcher Michael Wilson had the most bench press repetitions (23) in his position group on Sunday. Brenton Strange and Zack Kuntz, former teammates at Penn State, led tight ends with 23 reps. Kuntz transferred to Old Dominion last year.
The final bench press session will take place on Monday.
