Attack on Titan Final Season Part 3’s first episode is now on Crunchyroll
Attack on Titan Final Season Part 3The first episode of Crunchyroll is now on Crunchyroll.
Fans expected the subtitled version of the premiere to arrive on Crunchyroll sometime Friday morning, shortly after the episode aired in Japan, but as of 3pm ET, it was nowhere to be found. Rumors come true Attack on Titan Twitter fan accounts set the subtitled version of the episode is “currently being worked on”, but gave no time frame for when it could be released after “soon”. Crunchyroll was unable to clarify the release when contacted by Polygon, but has since issued a statement regarding the acquisition of Part 3 and the release of the first episode.
One fan became particularly desperate to jump into the latest (and technically penultimate) episode of the anime and turned to a version with subtitles done by google translate. Of course, Google Translate probably doesn’t have as good an understanding of the intent of the series or the dialogue involved as the official version.
Attack on Titan Final Season Part 3 will be the end of the series, but it will be released in a very specific and strange way. Instead of rolling out a full schedule of standard-length episodes — like every previous season of the series — MAPPA, the studio that took over for White for Last seasonchose to release Part 3 in two separate halves, each of which will consist of just one hour-long episode. While fans expected the special to air shortly after its Japanese premiere on Crunchyroll, as the service was home to Part 1 And Part 2the company had to take over Part 3. Friday’s premiere time was just a guess from devoted fans, and it turns out it wasn’t far off.
Update: Crunchyroll has announced the acquisition of Attack on Titan Final Season Part 3 and this story has been updated throughout to reflect that announcement.
