‘We love you so much’: Heather Dubrow celebrates her transgender son Ace on International Children’s Day

Heather Dubrow celebrated International Day of the Son on Saturday with a sweet and supportive message for her youngest son, who she announced as transgender and is named Ace.

‘It’s International Children’s Day!’ she wrote the Real Housewives of Orange County star, 54. ‘We love you, our youngest son, Ace ❤️’

To celebrate the occasion, the actress posted a photo of the boy’s chosen name written in the sand on the beach.

“Our job as parents is to provide our children with a safe and supportive environment so that they can grow up as healthy, happy, confident and independent human beings,” she continued.

New name: “We love you our youngest son Ace ❤️,” he wrote, sharing a photo of the boy’s name written in the sand on Instagram on Saturday.

Heather then wrote about how she felt it was important to let Ace go his own way in finding out who he is.

“Since Ace is a 12-year-old boy with a long life ahead of him, we’ll let him tell his own story one day if he chooses. All we can say is Ace, we love you so much and are proud to be your parents. Your brother and sisters love and support you too ❤️

The reveal received a lot of positive feedback from Heather’s fans.

“All children should be able to experience the love and support that you and your family are modeling as parents of LGBT children ❤️❤️❤️.”

Another referenced laws in other states that prohibit gender-affirming healthcare, writing: “Love and acceptance.” Thank Gd you live in a state that allows Ace to receive the support she needs.’

A study published by the Williams Institute at UCLA School of Law in March 2022 indicated that 300,000 young Americans ages 13 to 17 identified as transgender.

At least 53,800 were at risk of losing the healthcare they need to transition because of those laws. npr informed.

A survey of the Trevor Institute found that more than half of transgender and non-binary children ‘seriously considered’ suicide in the past year.

The mother-of-four shares Ace, along with twins Nick and Max, 19, and Kat, 16, with her husband, Terry, 64.

The reality star also posted a photo of herself with her son Nick on her Instagram stories, wishing him a happy International Children’s Day as well.

In a February 2022 interview with People, Heather and Terry, a plastic surgeon who stars on the show Botched, seemed to hint that Ace might be working on coming out.

‘Everyone was always looking [Ace] because [Ace] he dresses ‘like a boy’, which, I hate those kinds of labels. it’s clothes. Clothes should just be clothes at this point,” she said.

Terry added, ‘[Ace] You are going through a great deal of self-exploration right now.

Family photos from the holiday season show Ace presenting himself as a boy and wearing gender-neutral clothing.

Another posted in September shows him in a shirt, tie, and pants.

Dubrow’s eldest daughter, Max, previously came out as bisexual, and her youngest daughter, Kat, came out as lesbian.

Speaking to the outlet in 2022, the Bravo star said, “We have four kids, they’re different genders, different sexualities, and they’re all in interesting places in their lives, figuring out who they are and where they belong as humans.”

Heather and Terry said the desire to share their family’s story and help other families going through something similar was a key factor in deciding to return to RHOC for another season.

“I felt like our purpose is to have those conversations in other families,” Heather explained.

Terry agreed, adding: “Coming out with your sexuality is something that affects a lot of different people broadly.” We just want people to realize that it should be part of normal conversations.’
