George, 94, left piano fans in tears as he played for Claudia Winkleman.

Piano fans were in tears on Wednesday when George performed at the Glasgow train station for presenter Claudia Winkleman.

On the show, the 51-year-old presenter visits different cities in the UK with pianist Lang Lang and musician Mika to invite amateur musicians to play the public pianos.

This week, Claudia invited Sean Logan, 26, who has Asperger’s Syndrome, George, 94, and others to play at Central Station.

Ultimately, Sean became the talented musician chosen by the judges to perform at the Royal Festival Hall.

But it was the last street pianist to play, George, who brought fans of the show to tears with his emotional story and talent.

Lang Lang and Mike immediately became big fans of the 94-year-old as they were courted by his charm as he strolled through the station.

Speaking to Claudia before taking up the keys, he explained: ‘I’ve been playing on and off for about 85 years. I’m 94.’

George often plays the public piano and admitted that he loved playing for people and getting to know them, having been lonely since his wife passed away.

“My wife’s name was Mary and my eldest daughter is Janice, my youngest was Alison, she passed away in 1999, she had diabetes and later developed epilepsy.”

“My wife died in 2010,” he said as he held up the last photo he had of them together.

“I could spend a couple of hours at the station playing and I made some friends, I didn’t think it was that good to be honest with you.”

George played a medley of show tunes on the piano, which Lang and Mika described as very “powerful” and romantic.

Viewers of the show wrote their sentiments on Twitter, with one person writing: ‘I know Channel 4 called the show #ThePiano, but it might as well be called ‘The Feels’, because that’s where it hits me every week.
