Troubled Australian Idol star Kate DeAraugo introduces her baby boy live on The Morning Show, as she gets her life back on track after pleading guilty to methamphetamine possession.

She’s had a rough couple of years, but things are finally looking up for former Australian Idol winner Kate DeAraugo.

The 37-year-old and her partner Shannon Riseley welcomed their first child together three months ago, and on Thursday she introduced her son for the first time on television.

Her three-month-old baby Hudson joined her live as she spoke to Larry Edmur and Kylie Gillies on Channel Seven. the morning program.

Kate, who won Idol in 2005, has put her life back together after a 2017 fall from grace that saw her plead guilty to possessing methamphetamine.

Since then, she has turned the page thanks to therapy, the support of her partner, as well as the ‘new man’ in her life, Hudson.

‘This is my new main man Hudson and he is simply the best. He has made my life quite special,” he said.

‘It’s pretty cold for the most part. He is the most amazing little guy.

When asked how she’s finding motherhood, Kate said: ‘You learn as you go. I don’t think anyone can prepare you for that, but I love it more than I thought I would.

He added that his partner Shannon, 40, had been “incredibly” supportive.

‘He has been amazing. He’s been amazing support and we’re taking it 50-50, and as much as I hate to say it, I think he [Hudson] It’s a bit like a daddy’s boy!

Despite only becoming a mother three months ago, Kate said she was looking forward to getting back on stage.

‘I’m in the middle of lockdown [in] some really cool stuff coming later this year. I have some new music on the go and I’m really looking forward to getting back on the road,” she said.

Although Hudson cried when her mother sang to her for the first time, Kate said that she was starting to show an interest in music and that they had watched the Australian Idol reboot together.

Kate hit rock bottom five years ago when she was arrested for drug possession.

The fallen star made headlines for all the wrong reasons in June 2017 when police caught her with 0.43 grams of ice in Shepparton.

Police also alleged that she was ice-trapped five days later and that she was illegally carrying a large knife and tomahawk.

Kate was also reportedly caught driving under the influence of drugs and faced up to 15 years in jail.

But in November of that year, he avoided conviction after pleading guilty to possession of ice, drug driving and weapons charges.

He was served with a 12-month community correction order at Bendigo Magistrate Court after pleading guilty to eight counts.

She was also banned from driving for a minimum of six months.

Speaking about her troubled past on The Morning Show last year, Kate said: “It’s no secret that mental health, depression and addiction have been a big part of my story.”

‘The good news is that I have been in recovery for almost three years now. It was a dark time, but an incredible learning experience now that I’m on the other end.’
