Sydney: Glamorous lawyer Ashlyn Nassif, 27, arrested and charged with multi-million dollar fraud

The daughter of a high-profile Sydney property developer has been charged with an alleged multi-million dollar fraud plot.
Lawyer Ashlyn Nassif, 27, spent the night behind bars after NSW police executed search warrants at four properties on Tuesday, including the home and business of her father, Jean.
Ms Nassif was questioned for hours after attending Sydney’s Day Street Police Station and charged with her alleged role in a fraud scheme reportedly worth tens of millions of dollars.
She is due to appear in Downing Center Local Court on Wednesday on charges of dishonestly obtaining a financial advantage by deception and posting false or misleading material to obtain an advantage.
There is no indication of wrongdoing on the part of Mr. Nassif, who is currently in his home country of Lebanon, where he is reportedly recovering from a medical procedure.

A statement from NSW Police said the raids occurred on businesses in the Sydney CBD, Concord and Chiswick at around 9:30am on Tuesday.
Ms. Nassif later turned herself in to the police, was arrested, charged and denied bail.
She previously worked as a property developer at her father’s company and is a director of her own law firm, EA Legal Pty Ltd.
Jean Nassif rose to prominence in 2019 after gifting his wife Nisserine ‘Nissy’ Nassif with a $480,000 yellow Lamborghini for Valentine’s Day.
While the flamboyant property developer was in Lebanon, he was unable to attend a New South Wales parliamentary inquiry into alleged wrongdoing by local councillors.
The investigation is into Hills Shire Council in the north-west of the city and the alleged role the councilors played in property developments.
Nassif wrote to the committee to inform them that he is in a remote part of Lebanon where he is from until March and is therefore unable to attend the investigation, requesting that it be postponed if his evidence is needed.
In the letter, Mr Nassif denied any wrongdoing, saying he “had not met with any of the current Hills Shire Council directors.”
Property developer Jean Nassif left Australia for rural Lebanon and informed a committee of inquiry just days before the parliamentary inquiry into alleged wrongdoing by councilors on Hills Shire Council (pictured with his wife Nisserine Nassif)
‘I don’t know if they support my developments. I don’t know if they are more or less supportive of my development than the previous advisors.’
Mr Nassif strongly disputed claims by Castle Hill MP Ray Williams that he paid large sums of money to elect new councilors in The Hills Shire to support his future development applications.
Mr Williams previously told the NSW Parliament that he had heard allegations that members were being paid “significant funds to put up new directors” who would support future development applications for Mr Nassif’s company.
It was those comments that led to the upper house investigation.
Nassif also took aim at the retirement of transport minister and local MP David Elliott in his letter, alleging that he tried to “discredit internal opponents” in order to stay in office.
‘I sincerely question why Mr Elliott did not devote this time and effort to; obeying the law, being a better minister, gaining support for himself within the electorate of him and the Liberal Party,’ the letter said.
He also accused Elliott of “urging journalists” to report on alleged wrongdoing related to his developments.
In 2019, Mr Nassif uploaded a video of himself introducing the luxury vehicle to the mother of his children with the comment: ‘Congratulations Mrs Nassif… do you like it?’

In the video of Nassif presenting his wife with a yellow Lamborghini, she was captured entering the couple’s garage where the car was parked.
Wearing a Gucci belt, Ms. Nassif stood next to the vehicle before blowing kisses to her followers.
The Nassifs were mocked for the ostentatious display with various meme videos surfacing on social media where wheelie bins and toy trucks were among the items traded for the luxury car.
After Ms Nassif got fed up with the meme videos, she took to Instagram to respond, telling people to focus on themselves and “how you can provide a good luxurious life for yourselves, your wives, children and loved ones.” “.
