EXC: Davide Sanclimenti dismisses claims he is engaged to girlfriend Ekin-Su Culculoglu

Davide Sanclimenti has dismissed claims that he proposed to his girlfriend Ekin-Su Culculoglu, after fan speculation grew during his recent Maldives getaway.

The 28-year-old former Love Island winner admitted it’s still early days as the couple have only known each other for six months, but revealed he wouldn’t be opposed to taking a knee after the two-year mark.

In an exclusive interview with MailOnline, she also defended Ekin-Su’s decision to wear a daring bodysuit while competing on Dancing On Ice, which sparked 112 complaints from Ofcom, as she was ‘more naked’ on the ITV2 dating show.

Fresh from a romantic holiday with his partner, also 28, Davide raved about how the couple had a “so good time” and felt they were able to “totally relax” amid their busy schedule.

The boohooMAN ambassador said: ‘I feel like it’s been the first two weeks where we’ve been able to relax. No job, no commitments. Just time for me and Ekin, time for good food and sun.

‘Let’s be real…we’ve known each other for six months!’ Davide Sanclimenti has dismissed claims that he proposed to his girlfriend Ekin-Su Culculoglu amid fan speculation.

“Because after the show, there’s always been someone on my side or on Ekin’s side and we were never able to have time to ourselves, you know, quality time.”

During the idyllic trip, the couple sparked engagement rumors as they posed for much-loved photos in front of a stunning orange sunset.

Fans were quick to take to the comments section to admit that they thought the couple was heralding some big news with the very romantic post.

But Davide has thrown cold water on any conjecture, reminding fans that he met Ekin-Su last summer and that they are still ‘learning’ new things about each other.

He said: “Even if we’re that close, the reality is we’ve only known each other for six months, so it would be nice to see at least a two-year relationship before committing for life.”

“This is what I will always love for the fans to understand, that even if everything is perfect, it seems like a dream, you have to be realistic.”

And before you commit for life, I think it would be wise to wait at least two years, you know, so you can find out more about the other person.

“We’ve always been honest and true to ourselves, so when we go out [of Love Island] it could go very wrong or it could go very well as it is doing.

‘Actually we realized that we are the same person. They start to like each other more and more. We meet sometimes, I tell her: “You’re like me if I’m going to be a woman”, and she tells me the same thing. I feel that we found in each other a soul mate.’

‘No, it’s crazy that, honestly, we’re the same person. There is nothing different about what we like, about what we want to do, our opinion about things, how even about everyday life, how we like to enjoy our activities.

‘It’s like discovering myself in the other gender, you know?’

Earlier this month, a tearful Ekin-Su broke down when she was eliminated from Dancing On Ice after becoming the third star to be eliminated from the competition.

Davide was full of praise for his girlfriend while revealing the advice he gave her after her departure.

The former director of the hospitality service said: ‘I saw her from where she started, I’ve been watching at times, some videos of her first day on the ice, and then I saw her when she arrived.

“So I always tell her, ‘You should be proud of what you did, where you started when you came in. This show is not a competition because Dancing On Ice is not going to be your career, so it’s just a challenge with yourself. Enjoy the show.”

‘I feel like she should be proud of herself. Everyone is proud of her, she did well in my opinion. So I’m happy for her for everything she did.

“I feel like she’s even more relaxed now, you know, it’s been too much for her since we’ve been dating.” [of Love Island]. So now also after the holidays I see her more relaxed and that’s why I’m happy for her”.

But during her time on the show, Ekin-Su left some viewers angry when she recreated her famous crawling scene from the villa.

Even host Holly Willoughby called the routine the “sexiest dance ever.”

But it was not so well received by everyone, as the show received 112 complaints from Ofcom and the Turkish beauty found itself with the fewest votes from the public.

When asked about the backlash, Davide quipped: “If I’m the groom, then for me the outfit is fine.” He is fully covered. Why people should talk, you know? She was more naked on Love Island in a bikini!

“People are more naked there than they are on Dancing On Ice, so I feel like it shouldn’t have been an important aspect.”

On the other hand, Davide is excited to release his second ‘outing’ issue with boohooMAN following a successful first collection last year.

The 10-piece line features a variety of timelessly elegant silhouettes and soft, subtle color combinations. Earthy tones combine with relaxed fits, coordinating sets and lightweight fabrics to create a simple range that suits everyone.

At home away from home, the shoot took place in the heart of Manchester with a touch of inspiration from his Italian roots by embracing a minimalist style and incorporating architecture as accessories.

Davide said of the continuation of the partnership: ‘Now I feel even closer to the brand because I feel that after the first collection, already successful, we are now creating something that respects my style, my way of dressing, my personality…

“Especially what I wear, you know, even in my everyday life, I shop, I find a good outfit even, you know, if you want to go out at night if you want to be a little dressier.”

“So I feel like we created something that’s more Davide-esque and I’m even more excited now the second time around than the first time around.”

With price points ranging from £16 – £60, this collection will launch exclusively on boohooMAN.com on Monday 20th February.
