Ruby Rose looks visibly nervous during her first interview on Australian television in five years as she talks to Today’s Brooke Boney about her new role in charity.
Actress and model Ruby Rose looked visibly nervous on Tuesday as she sat down for her first interview on Australian television in five years.
The gender fluid Orange Is the New Black star, 36, appeared on Channel Nine’s Today show to discuss her role as an ambassador for the LGBT charity Minus18.
During her meeting with newscaster Brooke Boney, Ruby laughed heartily as she talked about her return to Australia after years of living in Los Angeles.
‘I’m excited, I’m nervous, I haven’t done press in a long time… I’m excited. Thanks for having me,’ she said.
She later added: ‘I’m so nervous, this is crazy! I haven’t been back in five years, so as soon as I landed I was extremely grateful to be back because I’ve missed it so much and this country is very special to me.”

Ruby also spoke about her role as an ambassador for Minus18, a charity that supports LGBTQIA+ youth.
I am here as an ambassador for Hilton and Minus18. They are doing these inclusive [high school] formal,” he explained.
‘Minus18 is an organization close to my heart because from the age of 12 or 13 I got involved as a simple participant and it was the only place where I felt safe to be myself. I had these clubs and we could be free to be ourselves and have this community.’
Ruby wasn’t the only one who seemed a bit unsure of herself, as Brooke also cast several nervous glances at the camera during the interview, despite sitting across from her guest on the couch.

Ruby began her career in show business as a model, DJ and television presenter for MTV Australia.
As her popularity grew, she found herself fronting major modeling campaigns for big names like Maybelline, and co-hosting popular shows like Channel 10’s The Project and Australia’s Next Top Model.
She moved to Hollywood in 2013 hoping to make it as an actress.
Her efforts paid off, as Ruby rose to fame in 2015 with her breakout role in the Netflix series Orange Is the New Black.

Her acting career skyrocketed when she starred in blockbuster movies like Resident Evil: The Final Chapter (2016) and Pitch Perfect 3 (2017).
He acted alongside Hollywood royalty Vin Diesel in xXx: Return of Xander Cage (2017) and Keanu Reeves in John Wick: Chapter 2 (2017).
In 2018, Ruby also co-starred with Jason Statham in the sci-fi thriller The Meg.
However, her career took a turn for the worse in 2020 when she controversially left the CW superhero series Batwoman after just one season.
