Sydney nurse Kristy Anne Wild admits to wielding knife during argument with boyfriend

Details have emerged about what prompted a Sydney woman to pick up a knife with the intention of attacking her partner in the early morning.

Kristy Anne Wild was scheduled to undergo a five-day hearing at Burwood Local Court on Monday after she was charged with stabbing her boyfriend inside their Cabarita home in September 2021.

But instead of fighting the charge, Wild pleaded guilty to one count of being armed with intent to commit an indictable felony assault, while police dropped a reckless battery charge.

The court was told the registered nurse had allegedly endured a tumultuous two-year relationship marred by violence at the hands of her former partner Jamie Blewitt.

But things escalated during the 2021 Delta Covid-19 shutdown, with court documents detailing the hours leading up to the attack.

On the night of September 29, Wild and Blewitt had been drinking before sitting down to watch a movie, according to court documents.

When Mr. Blewitt was unable to put Wild to bed in the early hours of the next morning, the couple began arguing and shouting insults at each other.

According to court documents, Mr. Blewitt “suddenly grabbed” Wild by the shoulders before twisting his leg.

“He threw a knife at her and said, ‘I’ll do it, I’ll do it,’ with the intent to frighten her based on the facts,” defense attorney Rory Pettit told the court.

“Those are matters likely characterized as extreme provocation or matters that heavily affect or inform their motives.”

After Mr. Blewitt allegedly “pushed the knife” into Wild’s abdomen, court documents allege he yelled, “F**k you.” When I get home tomorrow you can go.

He left the house, prompting Wild to grab the knife and give chase.

According to court documents, Mr. Blewitt turned around and said, “Come on, then stab me, carry on.”

Pettit asked Judge Gemma Slack-Smith to consider not sentencing Wild as she had spent 118 days in custody following her arrest in 2021.

The court was told that Wild had allegedly endured a tumultuous two-year relationship marked by violence at the hands of his former partner Jamie Blewitt.

Judge Gemma Slack-Smith said she accepted Wild was a victim of domestic violence and sentenced her to a community release order for 19 months without conviction.

He said it was a “deep shock to his system”, especially during the Covid-19 lockdown.

A police prosecutor told the court that he was opposed to non-conviction based on the seriousness of the crime.
