Man criticized for smoking with a pregnant woman at a concert

An anonymous music enthusiast has come under fire after admitting to smoking with a pregnant woman at a concert over the weekend.

The anonymous poster, from the United States, shared on Am I the A****** of Reddit? who started smoking pot during a band show and refused to put it out when the couple next to him, who were pregnant, asked him to stop.

He revealed that he told the couple that they could leave the show if they were not happy after the woman’s husband complained to him.

After being called out by his own roommates for smoking next to a pregnant woman, the man shared his story online.

People highlighted how dangerous secondhand smoke can be for non-smokers, with some adding that not smoking around a pregnant woman is “basic human decency.”

The concert goer explained that the band he was watching has a strong drug culture associated with their music.

He added that he was sitting next to a pregnant couple and chatted with them a bit as they waited for the concert to start.

Without disclosing whether the concert would take place indoors or outdoors, the man added that he decided to smoke within 10 minutes of the start of the show.

The pregnant woman’s husband quickly asked her to put out the smoke, but the concert attendee replied that the couple could leave if they were not happy.

“He tried to make a scene but nothing happened as I ignored them both and danced,” the man added.

However, after returning home and telling his housemate the story, the smoker was criticized for his behavior and for smoking next to a pregnant woman.

And he was further criticized after sharing the story online.

You shouldn’t be smoking in your seat like that. People do it all the time and guess what? They are idiots like you,” said one.

The man revealed that he told the couple they could leave if they didn’t like it and continued to smoke despite their repeated requests.

‘Imagine sharing your cancer whiffs with a non-consenting pregnant woman and wondering if you’re an idiot. yeah duh’, replied another.

“Smoking indoors in 99 percent of public places is illegal anyway, regardless of the ‘drug scene’ associated with a band or artist,” another commented.

‘People like this make it basically impossible to enjoy a concert without being a runny, sneezy sneeze. Smoking a joint in your seat at a concert should be just as socially unacceptable as smoking a cigarette,” said another.

“I don’t care what kind of scene a band has, take it outside and be respectful of the people around you,” said one. ‘Why should someone else leave because of something you’re doing? She has as much right to be there as you do.”

They all criticized the man for continuing to smoke next to a pregnant woman and said he shouldn’t have exposed non-smokers to his habit.

“You are the bastard many times,” said one. ‘For smoking inside, for smoking in a crowd none of whom consented to your filthy smoke, for exposing the woman to smoke and weed (x2 per unborn baby) and for having the nerve to suggest they should leave when you you’re the one who breaks the rules,’ they continued.

‘It’s not even just ~preference~ or whatever, I have very severe asthma and secondhand smoke of any kind could close my airways and kill me. I have been hospitalized several times by selfish people like you. You are not more important,’ said another.

“I am a smoker and I would never force someone to inhale my substances, especially if they are pregnant,” said another smoker.

‘Smoke; even secondhand smoke is extremely harmful to a developing fetus. Not smoking around a pregnant woman is basic human decency,” said one.

‘Yes, the couple ‘chose’ to go to the concert. How is that relevant here? We live in a society. We still have some moral obligations to fulfill,’ wrote one.
