Denmark’s Crown Princess Mary appeared moved as she and her husband Prince Frederik paid their respects at the Mahatma Gandhi memorial at Raj Ghat today.

The royal couple laid a wreath and scattered rose petals during their visit to New Delhi, India.

The couple closed their eyes in contemplation as they gazed at the marble platform, dedicated to the Indian revolutionary.

Mary, a 51-year-old mother of four, looked effortlessly chic in a white dress for the visit, sporting a chic ensemble accented by floral motifs and a layered flared skirt.

Long sleeves and a cinched waist accentuated a sophisticated silhouette.

Mary gathered her brown locks into a relaxed bun and wore a glam makeup look with smoky eyes.

Meanwhile, Frederik, 54, wore a navy suit for the engagement, paired with a simple button-down shirt and red tie.

Often referred to as India’s “father of the nation”, Gandhi is famous for his activism to lead India to independence from the British, marked by nonviolent civil disobedience.

The political and spiritual leader went on 17 hunger strikes during his long campaign for freedom, the longest lasting 21 days.

But less than a year after he was finally able to celebrate independence from Britain in 1947, Gandhi was assassinated.

The European monarchs are on a five-day visit to India at the invitation of Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar.

On Sunday, the Danish royals raised a storm in front of the impressive Taj Mahal in Agra.

Mary looked typically elegant in a shimmering satin skirt by Etro which she teamed with a sleek white shirt. She accessorized with a thick brown belt that cinched her outfit at her waist.

The heir to the throne, Frederik, donned a smart beige blazer, cream pants and a white shirt that he teamed with navy blue casual sneakers.

The main focus of the visit is the green transition, with a special look at water and energy.

Mary and Frederik, along with other delegates, will participate in seminars that will address the issues.

The couple will visit the capital, New Delhi, as well as south-east Chennai and Agra, which is home to the infamous Taj Mahal.

It comes after Mary attended the prestigious EliteForsk Awards in Copenhagen earlier this month.

The Australian-born royal was elegant and stylish in an embellished black blouse and houndstooth pencil skirt, with a coat thrown over her shoulders.

She opted for a matte makeup palette, and her brown hair fell to her shoulders in soft curls.

Elsewhere, the Danish royal family shared stunning portraits of Princess Mary earlier this month to celebrate her birthday.

And she wasn’t the only birthday in the royal household, as her twins, Princess Josephine and Prince Vincent, also turned 12 in January.

The Danish royal family previously shared individual photos of the brothers together for their birthday, but the house decided to break with tradition this year.
