MKR Stars Who Lost Daughter To Leukemia Suffer Home Burglary

My Kitchen Rules stars Carly Saunders and Tresne Middleton revealed on Sunday that their car was broken into in a terrifying home invasion caught on camera.

The couple, who have been married for 15 years, revealed that the incident happened just hours after the funeral of their young daughter Poppy Grace on Thursday.

Poppy Grace tragically died last week after a battle with leukemia. She was just 20 months old.

In an Instagram post over the weekend, Carly and Tresne shared CCTV footage of the burglary, which happened in the early hours of Friday morning, saying they “feel really unsafe” in their own home.

The thief broke into her yard and took money from her car, but was unable to enter her home.

‘Hi dear. We just got out of bed and we really want to thank you all for your incredible kindness after Poppy’s special send-off on Thursday. We love you all very much’, began his publication on his joint Instagram account.

“Unfortunately, the following night/morning at 3:30 am our car was broken into and a young man tried to break into our house. He only took money from our car, but we feel bad that this person entered our space. After sleeping for months in the hospital with many of our J1 nurses/family around, we feel really unsafe.”

They added that they filed a police report but shared the footage in an attempt to try to discover the identity of the thief.

Below, their followers were in disbelief, saying the couple doesn’t deserve what happened to them after losing their daughter.

‘This is awful. They’ve both been through absolute agony already and I can’t believe this person has the decency to do this. I’m sorry. It’s a sick feeling to have your space intruding. Sharing this now x’, wrote one follower.

‘You don’t deserve this! I hope he gets caught and pays the price,” added another.

‘This is unpleasant! What low lives. I am lost for words. You don’t need this on top of everything. I hope everyone shares, these people are found and treated. I’ve been thinking about you two all week xx’ another said.

Last week, the couple announced the sad news that their baby daughter Poppy Grace had died at the age of 20 months.

The couple, who had been documenting their journey raising a sick girl, told their Instagram followers that their baby girl had lost her battle with leukaemia.

They posted a photo of their son on their joint account and wrote: ‘This morning we lost our precious baby girl Poppy Grace.

True to form, he fought tooth and nail until his last breath. His leukemia took over and in his last blood the explosions were 787,000. That fighting spirit was so prominent throughout their entire battle and was so evident in the last four traumatic days.

‘Poppy showed us what it’s like to be grateful and happy with whatever card you’re dealt.

“She made the most of her time on Earth, dancing, laughing and smiling until days after the finale. She was loving, fun and caring. She was smart and empathetic.

‘She had a heart of gold and she shined so brightly, overflowing with joy. We are honored to be her mom and we didn’t take a second of that for granted, not a second.

“She taught us a lot in her short 20 months and we have never experienced such an all-encompassing love.”

The mothers said they were “very sorry” to share the news with their followers, some of whom had donated blood, money and gifts to their daughter, and others who were living with leukemia.

Carly and Tresne created a Lifeblood donation group in Poppy’s name, where their supporters can come together to donate blood and hopefully help sick adults and children like Poppy.

We will rise again for Poppy. We still don’t know what that looks like: we are lost and our purpose is gone.

But we will be back soon and we will live life to the fullest in his honor. There is much to build on from the experiences we have had, much to share, and many ways we can improve the lives of children oncologists and their parents.

‘Until then we’ll rest so we can rise for our 20-month-old forever Poppy.’

Donation reservations can be made at the lifeblood website or by calling 13 14 95.
