SAG Awards 2023: Zendaya Changes To Second Dress And Leaves Paul Mescal Swallowing His Words

Zendaya had a quick wardrobe change during the 29th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday.

While presenting the award for Outstanding Performance by an Actress in a Miniseries or Movie Made for Television alongside Paul Mescal, 27, the Euphoria actress, 26, donned a different dress than the one she wore on the red carpet.

Zendaya swapped out her romantic pale pink Valentino gown for an Art Deco Armani Privé gown with a slit front in shades of pale blue, pink, and black.

Fans also noticed an awkward exchange between the co-hosts as they took the stage.

Zendaya appeared to deflect Mescal’s offer with a chivalrous arm, ignoring him and heading upstairs alone after refusing the actor’s attempt to accompany her, leaving him confused with her words later as they read from a teleprompter.

Zendaya kept her second look simple, with no bracelets or rings, but she made up for it with a spectacular sparkling Bulgari choker with a dark stone in the center.

Earlier in the evening, she opened the red carpet in style, arriving in a pink strapless gown with three-dimensional flowers embellished on the skirt.

The actress showed off her slender figure in the eye-catching Valentino number covered with fabric roses of various sizes in the same hue.

Zendaya’s cotton candy color number was paired with a striking diamond necklace that included emerald, ruby, and amethyst gemstones.

The design was custom made for her by creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli and she was styled by Law Roach.

She styled her short locks in waves, channeling old Hollywood stars.

Fans who watched the show went online to express their amusement after noticing the awkward moment between Zendaya and Mescal.

As they walked onto the stage together, Mescal appeared to reach out in what appeared to be an attempt to help Zendaya onto the stage.

However, she did not seem overly receptive to the gentlemen’s offer and continued without help.

“Paul Mescal trying to help Zendaya up the stairs and she said no,” one Twitter user wrote in amusement.

Another tweeted ‘Not Zendaya deflecting Paul Mescal’s hand.’

Someone else wrote ‘Paul Mescal tried to escort Zendaya and she wasn’t interested’.

Zendaya was nominated for Outstanding Performance by an Actress in a Drama Series for her role in Euphoria, but lost to The White Lotus’ Jennifer Coolidge.

The 29th Screen Actors Guild Awards took place at the Fairmont Century Plaza in Century City, California and was streamed live on Netflix’s YouTube channel.

The Banshees Of Inisherin and Everything Everywhere All At Once were among the most nominated feature films.

The event honored acting legend Sally Field with the SAG Life Achievement Award for her work spanning more than five decades and earned more than 70 acting credits.

In addition to Zendaya and Mescal, other presenters included Ariana DeBose, fresh off her viral BAFTA rap, as well as Aubrey Plaza, Jenna Ortega, Amy Poehler, Eugene Levy, Jason Bateman, Jeff Bridges, Adam Scott and Matt Bomer, in addition to SAG. -AFTRA President, Fran Drescher.
