Speaking to Sky Sports after the match, Ten Hag opened up about his meeting with the Manchester United icon.
“He was there and he’s a happy man tonight,” he said. ‘The dinner that shows that we are good and shows that he is really involved in this club and really committed.
We can all learn a lot from him. What he did for Manchester United is huge, an inspiration to all of us.”
The couple met for dinner ahead of Manchester United’s Europa League game against Barcelona.
They were seen deep in conversation at the Cibo Italian restaurant in Wilmslow on Monday night.
Whatever the pair discussed seemed to work as the Red Devils advanced to the next round of the Europa League with a brilliant victory.
“I always enjoy talking to people who have a lot of knowledge, a lot of experience,” said the Dutchman.
He wants to share it, he wants to help and support. Manchester United is his club and he feels very committed. We are doing well. It was a great night and I look forward to the next night with him.

The 53-year-old head coach has managed to turn around Manchester United’s fortunes since his arrival in the summer.
The Dutch coach lost his first two games in charge, including a 4-0 thrashing at Brentford, but this win shows the team’s progress.
With United still competing in all remaining competitions, Ten Hag hopes this win can inspire his team to Ferguson’s levels of success.
The Red Devils’ next game is an FA Cup clash against West Ham and gives the team a chance to progress into another cup competition.
