Wes Bentley calls rumors about Kevin Costner’s alleged claims to Yellowstone ‘drama for nothing’

Wes Bentley said the rumors swirling about whether or not his hit show Yellowstone will continue is “above my salary range.”

The actor, 44, who credited Robert Downey, Jr.’s candor on drug addiction with helping him get clean, said entertainment weekly at SCAD TV Fest that ‘I know they’re still working on… working things out with everyone, to make sure we film.’

“And I am confident that we will,” he said. We have always done it before. I think it’s probably a bit of drama for nothing.

Concerns about the future of the much-loved modern western arose after Deadline reported that 68-year-old Kevin Costner wanted to reduce his filming days to a week for the second part of season five, so he could focus on directing and starring in his multi-part Western epic Horizon.

The actor is also allegedly asking for more money, $1.2 million per episode for season five and an increase to $1.5 million per episode if there is a sixth season.

Kevin won a Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series — Drama in January for his role as family patriarch John Dutton.

The requests reportedly resulted in talks about Paramount+ and creator Taylor Sheridan, bringing the highly-rated show to an end altogether.

There were reports that the showrunner might be taking the franchise in a different direction, with a spinoff starring Matthew McConaughey.

Paramount and Taylor have already had great success with the Yellowstone prequel series 1883 and 1923, which aired its season finale on Sunday.

1923, starring Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren, has been renewed for a second season.

“It’s ridiculous, and anyone who suggests it shouldn’t be believed for a second. As everyone who knows anything about Kevin knows, he is incredibly passionate about the show and has always gone above and beyond to ensure its success.

The cast and crew are also reportedly upset with the Oscar winner’s attitude on set.

Rather than discuss the supposed uncertainty, Wes chose to focus on his character, Jamie Dutton, and the simmering feud with his sister Beth, played by 45-year-old Kelly Reilly.

He compared his drama to a ‘Greek tragedy in the country of Big Sky’.

It is also a mystery to me where it goes. I just know that this is a turning point… Something important will come out of this moment between Jamie and Beth,’ she explained.

‘This is kind of the final straw. I didn’t know how much Beth was really fed up with him until very recently, and I think she’s now thrown a switch in Jamie that she feels in a similar way.
