Arsenal and Manchester City are fined by the FA after their players surrounded officials during their top-table Premier League clash earlier this month… with the Gunners fined £65,000 and the Citizens having to pay £75,000
The FA fined both Arsenal and Manchester City after their players surrounded officials during their Premier League match earlier this month.
An independent Regulatory Commission issued financial punishment for the actions of the stars during Man City’s 3-1 win at the Emirates on Wednesday 15 February.
The FA announced that the Gunners face a £65,000 fine for the actions of their players, while Man City will have to pay £75,000 for two different incidents in the match.
Arsenal’s penalty includes a further £20,000 fine issued as a result of a suspended penalty after the club was penalized for failing to control its players during an FA Cup match against Oxford United earlier in the year.
Man City admitted that they did not ensure that their players behaved in an orderly manner during the 42nd minute and 64th minute.

Arsenal’s £65,000 punishment for going around the referee included a suspended ban
Kevin de Bruyne had put the Citizens ahead midway through the first half, before an incident in the 42nd minute.
Several City players protested after referee Anthony Taylor awarded Arsenal a penalty for a foul by goalkeeper Ederson on Eddie Nketiah. Bukayo Saka equalized from the penalty spot.
In the 64th minute, the City players called for Nketiah to be booked for surrounding Taylor.
Jack Grealish and Erling Haaland scored in the 72nd and 82nd minute respectively, to secure the visitors’ 3-1 victory last Wednesday.
Among Man City’s misdemeanors, Arsenal admitted that they failed to ensure their players conducted themselves in an orderly manner during the 56th minute of proceedings.
In that incident, Gunners defender Gabriel was ruled to have fouled Haaland, resulting in another penalty, which was ruled out by VAR due to offside in the build-up.

Arsenal’s rule-breaking followed a previous punishment after their players were ruled out of control against Oxford United in the FA Cup, just six days after a similar incident during the Premier League draw against Newcastle United.
Manchester City’s victory moved Pep Guardiola’s side to the top of the Premier League table after the clash, but Arsenal have regained their top position after a win last weekend, along with the points lost. for Man City at Nottingham Forest.
Arsenal travel to Leicester City at 3pm on Saturday, two and a half hours before Manchester City’s next game at Bournemouth. Mikel Arteta’s team are currently two points clear at the top of the table, one game less than Guardiola’s team.
The two sides will meet again in the Premier League at the Etihad on April 26.
