Clever Mom Reveals ‘Cool’ Bunk Bed Hack She Used To Create Two Separate Rooms For Her Daughters (And People Are VERY Impressed)
A savvy mom has been branded a ‘genius’ after revealing how she used bunk beds to create two separate rooms for her daughters.
Mother of two Sharlene Tait, from the UK, explained how she wanted to give her children their own space when she started the project in August 2020.
In a post to the DIY on a Budget Official Facebook group, the thrifty mom said she and her dad came up with an easy way to split the girls’ bedroom in two.
To start, the father-daughter duo moved the bunk away from the wall where it had been living and placed it in the center of the room.
Since Sharlene’s oldest daughter has the top bunk, they added a wooden panel next to her bed and her sister’s bunk so that this side of the room would be “blocked off.”
Sharlene’s eldest daughter’s living space after the makeover is complete. She added a wood panel to the side of the bunk bed and went with a blue and silver color scheme.
Her youngest daughter’s bed was surrounded by wood paneling and followed a pretty pink and mustard color scheme.
Along with her new makeup table and dresser, Sharlene painted the two back walls of her daughter’s room a light pastel blue.
Next to her daughter’s bed, she added a sticker that read: ‘When it rains, look for rainbows. When it’s dark, look for the stars.
Additionally, Sharlene and her father added an archway leading into their youngest daughter’s space, which has a pink and mustard yellow color scheme.
After also enclosing their bunk bed, the couple added a frame around their bed to display their toys and artwork.
Next to her bed, the girl has a wooden coat hanger, a box of books, and a small TV that sits on top of her own toy storage cabinets.
Before embarking on the DIY project, Sharlene and her father weren’t sure if there would be enough space to carry it out.
She added: “The room before we split up was 2.9m by 4.2m, so it wasn’t huge to begin with.
“I’m lucky because I had two windows with enough space between them to fit the beds and the wood, even though it was very tight!”
Sharlene’s teen had a new makeup station and storage area next to her bed after the makeover.

Since finishing the makeover, the mom says her kids are delighted with the end result.
She captioned the post: “I’m so happy with how it turned out and my girls are loving their own rooms!”
The post racked up over 15,000 likes in the group and other members were blown away by the final look.
One replied: ‘OMG thank you so much for this post, it’s amazing what you’ve done. It looks amazing well done to you and your dad.
‘This is GENIUS,’ added another.
“They look beautiful,” said a third. ‘I never would have thought of pink and mustard together, but what a great combination. Well done, lucky girls!
‘This is unbelievable, replied a fourth. ‘I want to do this for my daughters!’
