Dire warning for punters attending Kylie Minogue and Ed Sheeran concerts in Sydney with over 150,000 concertgoers, rugby fans and WorldPride revelers flooding the streets
Punters heading out to enjoy their Friday night in Sydney may be facing a transport and traffic nightmare.
With four major events drawing more than 150,000 people to the city, delays are to be expected, and NSW Transport is urging revelers to take public transport.
British superstar Ed Sheeran will play a sold-out concert at the Accor Stadium in Sydney’s Olympic Park tonight, with around 83,500 people gathered to watch the show.
Parking at Sydney’s Olympic Park has already sold out, and NSW Transport is ‘strongly urging’ customers to take buses, trains and other public transport.
NSW Transport said in a statement: ‘Significant delays are expected on roads approaching the grounds, particularly during the already busy Friday night peak. Fans are strongly advised to take public transportation to avoid traffic delays.

‘Express and limited-stop trains to Olympic Park will run regularly from Central and Western Line stations to take you to the concert, with frequent return services to take you home each evening.
“From Olympic Park station, the stadium is only a 10-minute walk away.”
At The Domain, Kylie Minogue, English singer Charlie XCX and Jessica Mauboy will headline the Live and Proud concert, with an estimated attendance of 21,000 people.
Fans attending that show have also been urged to seek public transportation.
Adding to the congestion, Super Rugby kicks off its season at the Allianz Stadium in Moore Park from 7:35pm, with up to 45,500 people in attendance.

NSW Transport has encouraged football fans to take light rail services to the game and avoid the roads.
Thousands have also flocked to Surry Hills tonight, where roads are closed to WorldPride’s Pride Villages, which feature stalls, performances and street parties.
The crowding will only continue on Saturday night, with the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras returning to Oxford street after a two-year break with an estimated 300,000 party-goers expected to attend the parade alone.
The following weekend will be just as busy, with English pop star Harry Styles playing two sold-out shows at the Accor Stadium on March 3 and 4, again drawing 83,500 people each night.
During the same days, WorldPride will host a “once-in-a-lifetime block party” with the famous Oxford Street closed from Liverpool Street to Flinders Street.
Thousands also flocked to Surry Hills tonight, where roads are closed to WorldPride’s Pride Villages, which feature stalls, performances and street parties.
