Denan Kemp listens, stunned, as former Wallaby Drew Mitchell tells his story about meeting rapper Busta Rhymes.

The former Wallabies winger had traveled to the Big Apple in 2018 to compete in the New York City Marathon before deciding to head out and enjoy the bright lights of the famous city two days later.

He ran into NRL stars Dylan Napa and Angus Crichton in a bar and the crazy story continues from there.

“So we’re out there and we’re having a great night like I won the marathon, you know, buying all the bottles and everything,” Mitchell said.

‘I was going to go and pay the bill of $5000US or so, it bit me right? Yes, it kills me.

‘It’s like five or six in the morning, I’m there, I’m like in a little blue sweater with clear lens glasses that look like the Milky Bar Kid.

“Then Buster Ryan walked by and I said oh Busta and tapped him on the shoulder and he said ‘don’t touch me bro.’

‘Oh man, like I’m a fan, he goes ‘f*** you’ and I said what, oh listen dude. Like yeah, I’m just saying I’m a fan.

Things then escalated when Busta used a racial slur against Mitchell, with the shocked rugby player saying, “Listen mate, don’t talk to people like that.”

“He called me out, I thought and I’ve never been in a fight in my life like yeah, I’ve never stood there and traded with anyone, yeah, okay, but I’m like I’m going to trade with Busta Rhymes.” ‘

Mitchell said Busta had three Escalades and his entire entourage waiting for him outside, with members of his crew preventing him from attacking the ex-Wallaby.

However, Mitchell was enjoying the confrontation and replied to Busta, “All you’ve done is cheer some people up.”

However, the host of Pimp My Ride was another famous rapper, Xzibit, who pushed Busta Rhymes to the limit.

“So he just went off and came to collect for me and a couple of these guys were holding him back and then he grabbed me and I grabbed him and then we tripped over the rubbish bags in front of this nightclub,’ he said.

Mitchell then realized he needed backup, so he had his partner pay a nearby homeless man $300 to join his side in the melee.

‘To back us up, you know, for a little bit of cash it’s like fighting Buster Rhymes for $300. so there were three of us there and then security stepped in.

‘It was just a riot like there weren’t necessarily bumps, yeah, like a slightly stretched-out sweater and whatever.

“And then they rushed him into one of their cars and he drove off and then I was like, you know, like we’re screwed.”
