Atlético Madrid striker Álvaro Morata has called for fans who make racist chants in stadiums to be banned for life, in light of the numerous incidents that have occurred in LaLiga this season.

LaLiga has announced that it has filed three more complaints with the courts this Wednesday for the latest incidents of racism in Spanish football.

Real Madrid star Vinicius Jr and Villarreal’s Nigerian winger Samu Chukwueze were the latest victims of racist abuse this weekend during their respective matches in Osasuna and Mallorca.

Brazilian striker Vinicius has been the regular target of racist comments towards him from rival fans throughout the season, including during their 1-0 loss to Real Mallorca earlier this month.

Morata, however, has revealed his strong feelings ahead of Atlético’s match against Vinicius and the white team in the Madrid derby this weekend.

Morata said ESPN: ‘It is unacceptable and inexplicable. It should never have a place in football.

“The first time a person does that in a stadium it should be banned for life because many times people go to see a sporting event many times with children.

I think it should be a reason to expel them because it’s a sport, there can be a lot of rivalry but it’s football.

Vinicius has been at the center of everything, with LaLiga filing eight complaints addressed to him personally, three of which have already been dismissed.

Three are still in the works, including an incident in which Atlético fans hung a Vinicius shirt on a mannequin from a bridge outside Real Madrid’s training ground before their previous clash, a game they won 3-1 in the quarterfinals of the Copa del Rey. -finals.

The forward himself is increasingly exasperated by the lack of action in Spain in the face of the racist insults he has received.

‘These [episodes of racist chants and insults] They are not happening only to Vinicius’, added Morata.

“Maybe it always feels like it happens to him because he’s in the media spotlight, but no… These [insults] occur every Sunday in each stadium.

‘I can assure you that it happens to many people who are spectacular people. In the end, it always happens in football.

“They also insult us when we play away from home and that’s part of football, but it should only be football, not only for Vinicius but for me, for Jordi Alba (of Barcelona), for everyone.”

The 30-year-old, who spent three seasons at Chelsea between 2017 and 2020, insists La Liga could learn a lot from how the Premier League deals with racism.

“I think we have to take the Premier League as an example,” Morata said.

‘If a person does such a thing on a football field or in the open air, which is related to football, they will not be allowed to participate in a sporting event again.

And so it should also be here in Spain.
