Controversial Pride mural featuring ‘creepy’ teddy bear gay bondage painting is vandalized and destroyed overnight
- LGBTQ+ bondage mural in Sydney destroyed overnight
- It featured a teddy bear in a bondage outfit.
A ‘BDSM-inspired’ WorldPride mural was vandalized overnight, after many called for it to be removed.
The controversial wall painting on Wynyard Street in Sydney’s CBD showed a ‘hairy’ man in leather bondage with a teddy bear head, reclining on a sofa with a can of beer and a gay pride flag.
It was designed to promote local shops during the WorldPride festival, but sparked outrage and demands that the “creepy and sexualized” image be removed from children’s view.
The mural was placed near one of the busiest train and bus stations in the city, also called Wynyard.
More to come.
