Women’s soccer team in Congo chases, punches and kicks the referee in a violent attack after he ‘denied them a penalty 5-1 down’… as the official has nowhere to go
Shocking footage has emerged of a women’s soccer team in Congo chasing down a referee and attacking him after they were reportedly denied a penalty.
DC Motema Pembe players attacked the match official on the pitch with five team members running after him following an apparently controversial decision.
The referee managed to free himself from the initial charge, he ran off the field of play as he headed for the Athletics track, surrounding it but the onslaught continued.
A male individual is seen trying to get involved next to the team benches on the sidelines by throwing a punch, but fails to land the hit. It is not known if the man belonged to the same team.
The referee managed to escape for a brief period by running behind the bench, but was then surrounded again just outside the tunnel.

A few players reached for him and one kicked him as the male individual threw more punches.
The referee tried to take cover and cannot be seen on video at this stage of the attack.
Stadium staff tried to break up the beating and prevented the same player who had sent off from picking up a bucket.
A staff member managed to free the referee and lead him down the tunnel, but some players did not budge and followed him.
The media account that shared the video reported that DC Motema Pembe was not awarded a penalty while trailing 5-1 against TP Mazembe Women in Lubumbashi in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The country’s Football Association has suspended some DC Motema Pembe players and launched an investigation into the incident, according to GhanaWeb.
