Dallas Cowboys’ All-Pro Trevon Diggs sued by former landlord for ‘up to’ $250,000 over unpaid rent

Dallas Cowboys Pro Bowl cornerback Trevon Diggs has been sued by a former landlord for ‘up to’ $250,000 in compensation for unpaid rent and property damage, according to a lawsuit obtained by WFAA.

The lawsuit claims that Diggs was renting a home in Frisco, Texas and had a monthly rental payment of $5,500. Owner Rose Marie Yadegar says she only received her first month’s payment.

The landlord says Diggs owes $33,500 in back rent plus late fees, $3,400 in repairs, as well as fees for carpet cleaning and lawn maintenance.

According to the lawsuit, Diggs vacated the property late on July 22 in lieu of eviction and Yadegar has been unable to fill the property. He is also responsible for the remaining two months of the lease, totaling $11,000. The lawsuit states that Diggs previously agreed to pay attorneys’ fees, in accordance with the terms of the lease.

Diggs, the brother of Buffalo Bills wide receiver Stefon, has earned more than $5 million in his first two NFL seasons.

Diggs’ attorney, Scott Becker, filed a response to the complaint, generally denying any and all allegations in the lawsuit and demanding that Yadegar prove them.

Becker also stated that the lawsuit was “a bit of a surprise” to Diggs.

“This appears to be due to some misunderstanding or miscommunication with this rental property that ended sometime last year,” Becker said.

‘He thought this matter was completely settled. So for this situation to come out of nowhere was a bit of a shock to him.

“We certainly feel bad for her if that is the case that there is property damage. My client did not cause that damage and we look forward to working it out with her.

Becker went so far as to attribute the circumstances to Diggs’ acquaintances, rather than the cornerback himself, while also hinting that Diggs may be under attack due to his success.

Last season, Diggs was named First Team All-Pro after leading the NFL with 11 interceptions.

This season he finished the year with three interceptions, 59 tackles and one fumble recovery.
