The brother of an accused drug dealer, Mostafa Baluch, was shot in the legs.

Imran Baluch, 26, was admitted to hospital shortly before noon on Thursday with gunshot wounds.

He has yet to be interviewed by police about the circumstances of the shooting and who pulled the trigger. Detectives are now investigating.

“Shortly after 11:35am, a 26-year-old man presented to Westmead Hospital with gunshot wounds,” police said in a statement.

The brother of suspected large-scale drug importer Mostafa Baluch (pictured) has been admitted to hospital after being shot in the legs.

“He was admitted to the hospital for treatment where he remains in stable condition.”

His brother Mostafa sparked one of Australia’s biggest manhunts last year.

He was caught hiding in the back of a luxury car on a truck on the Queensland-NSW border in November while trying to evade capture after weeks on the run.

His dramatic arrest last year was the culmination of a weeks-long manhunt after he allegedly removed an ankle monitor and went on the run.

Police allege that Baluch was involved in an organized crime syndicate that conspired to import and distribute three tons of cocaine, with an estimated potential value of $900 million.

With the help of US authorities, 1,770 kilograms of cocaine were seized from vessels off the coast of Colombia in October 2020 and Ecuador in April 2021.

Five men have so far been charged for their alleged involvement with the union.

His brother is not involved in the alleged importation nor is he charged with any crime.
