Now many other married women are choosing to upgrade or change their engagement rings.
Jewelers say men tend to choose a “safe” design for proposing, but some wives then tailor it to their liking when the couple can afford it.
Emma Clarkson Webb, based in London’s Hatton Garden jewelery quarter, told The Sunday Times: ‘It’s not uncommon to want to enhance or increase the size of the stone with an engagement ring.
“Often this is done to celebrate a milestone anniversary.”
