Married At First Sight Star Reveals Surprise Details About The Show’s Infamous Dinner Parties: ‘You Have No Idea’
A former Married At First Sight star has revealed how long it takes to film the show’s infamous dinner parties.
Contestants on the reality dating series need to be very patient, because even though the dinner episodes are cut to 90 minutes, they go on for much longer, according to ex-boyfriend Al Perkins.
In an interview with Yahoo Lifestyle, the former MAFS contestant said filming the dinner episodes “takes a long time,” and in total it could be six to seven hours.
AI Perkins (pictured), who was a boyfriend on the ninth season of Married At First Sight, has revealed how long it takes to film the dinner parties.
“The cocktail party is probably an hour, and then another hour of interviews, and then you go back to that room and the party is probably three, four hours or something like that,” he explained.
“Watching it, you think it’s just a smooth transition and everyone just walks from room to room after the guy clinks his glass and says ‘dinner is served’, but it’s a big time difference.”
The 26-year-old, who recently appeared on Australia’s Love Island, said couples also don’t know what order they’re in when they enter the diner, and could be waiting “for a long time” before entering.

“You have no idea if you are the first or the last,” he said.
“You swing and then you wait for your partners for an hour or so and then you go in, but everyone is different.
‘Some people can wait half an hour and go right in, but I think you wait a minimum of half an hour. Sometimes people wait like an hour and a half. I remember it being really stressful, but you get used to it.
Al failed to find love with the woman he was chosen to marry, Samantha Moitzi (pictured)
Al, who quit his job as a carpenter to become a full-time influencer after the show, didn’t find love with the woman he was chosen to marry, Samantha Moitzi.
He admitted that he was almost ‘fucking’ himself as he and his partner were one of the last couples to enter the first dinner party.
“And then when you meet everyone, it’s really hard to remember everyone’s names and everything goes so fast,” he said.

‘Everything got a little blurry.
‘And then you sit back and you’re just trying to recap what the hell is going on with everyone.
“Obviously, there are some people who have relationship issues and you don’t really listen to every one of them, so you don’t really know until you see it on TV, too.”
“So you’re like, ‘Oh my gosh, I didn’t even know that that happened or that person had that relationship problem.'”
Al admitted that he was very nervous before the dinner episodes on MAFS.
