Mo Gilligan introduces Sam Capaldi instead of Lewis at the 2023 BRIT Awards
Mo Gilligan was forced to apologize to Lewis Capaldi during the BRIT Awards on Saturday night after he botched his introduction of Lewis’s performance by calling him Sam.
Lewis was one of the first live artists to take the stage during the ceremony to sing his recent hit Forget Me.
But presenter Mo, 34, erred in introducing Lewis as Sam Capaldi, perhaps mistaking his first name for that of Sam Smith, another BRIT attendee.
Mo said: “Here, with his number one single, Forget Me, is the brilliant, go crazy, Sam Capaldi.”
Lewis seemed unfazed by the mishap and continued his live vocal performance.

The 29-year-old singer, who is up for four awards at tonight’s ceremony, donned a bright red jacket over his tattooed shirtless chest.

The duo Rhian Teasdale and Hester Chambers looked sensational on stage surrounded by dancers, some with horse heads and banners.
Rhian looked amazing as she showed off her toned belly in a quirky beige ensemble, which had a belt buckle along the hem, while her loose skirt hit just below her knees and hung to the floor on one side.
She added inches to her frame with a pair of knee-high denim boots, embellished with a lace pattern and snakeskin hem.
She accessorized her look with chunky silver rings, while her gorgeous brown locks were curled and parted down the middle as they cascaded over her shoulders.
Meanwhile, Hester put on an equally striking display in a linen tube top and matching miniskirt and wore white knee-high socks under chunky white heels.
The band is up for Mastercard Album of the Year, as well as Group of the Year, Best New Artist and Rock/Alternative Act.
