Scrub Daddy, a cleaning sponge that promises to banish tough stains without chemicals, launched at the budget grocery store for just $4.49.

The tool changes its texture according to the temperature of the water. It’s gentle in warm water for light cleaning, while firm in cold water for tough scrubbing without the need to add harsh chemicals.

Scrub Daddy was popularized by cleaning experts on TikTok and has been a staple abroad for years.

Customers claim the product is good for everything from pots and pans to shower enclosures, barbecues, and sofas.

‘They are really good. They are harder in cold water, softer in hot, and can go in the dishwasher. They clean very well, last for years and won’t scratch glass or steel,” said one woman.

Hundreds of Australians have shared their before and after pictures of places in their homes that they used the sponges to clean.

‘Super satisfying before and after. Scrub Daddy was used to remove years of dirt and oil on this stove,” said one woman.

The product’s proprietary FlexTexture material sets the sponge apart from almost any other brand on the market because it allows users to control their ‘scrubbing power’.

* For kitchens that have been running overtime: baking sheets, sinks, refrigerators, ovens, and even stainless steel can shine

* Bathtubs, sinks, toilets, screens, tiles and taps

The sponge first made headlines after American founder Aaron Krause introduced the product on Shark Tank USA in October 2012. According to CEO magazine, the company is worth $170 million (A$235 million).

Several parents say they are delighted that sponges have become so popular on TikTok, as it seems to have inspired their children to clean up.

β€œThey are amazing for dishes and even better because the kids have seen TikToks on them. We bought one and now they don’t complain about washing the dishes, everyone wins,” said one mother.

‘My 12 year old has been asking for this to do the dishes! I think I just found the best birthday present!’ another wrote.

Other moms shared that they use Scrub Daddy every day to clean showers and toilets.

After cleaning with it, they either wash it in the washing machine or in the sink and let it air dry.
