Tom Cruise plans to delay filming on his new movie Mission Impossible to attend the Coronation of King Charles.

The movie star, 60, reportedly decided to stop filming the eighth installment of the spy franchise Mission: Impossible in order to attend the Coronation on May 6.

A source told the publication: “Tom has been invited to King Charles’s coronation and there’s no way he turned him down.”

“It is a very prestigious event and Tom is a true member of royalty, plus he is now close with Prince William and Kate. Tom has told the film bosses to shut down production on Mission: Impossible over coronation weekend to ensure he can attend.

“It shocked some people on the film, as Tom is so dedicated to his craft and would normally never deviate from his intense production schedules.

“But something as important – and grand – as the coronation of King Charles is something you wouldn’t want to miss.

The actor has become close to the royal family of late, and last year he invited William and Kate to an advanced screening of Top Gun: Maverick.

They were given a world-first preview of the film last March and the trio got an up-close look at the star-studded London premiere two months later.

The A-lister, 59, extended his hand to the Duchess of Cambridge, 40, as she walked up some stairs at the premiere.

Cruise was on hand to escort the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge down the red carpet and introduce them to their co-stars Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm and Miles Teller.

When he reached a small flight of stairs ahead of the couple, Cruise immediately turned and offered a hand to the Duchess, who was walking beside him.

The cavalry moment was watched by royal watchers, who praised Cruise for helping Kate.

Two children who spoke to William and Kate revealed that the couple’s own children George, Charlotte and Louis were heartbroken to miss out on the dazzling screening.

Nine-year-old Alfie Everett-Fletcher, who met William at the movies, said: “He asked me what I liked about the last one, the things I liked, did I like jets, planes and motorcycles.”

Alfie said William told him he’s a “big fan” of the movie and the “cars and stuff.”

Their mother, Elise Everett, added: “She said they had the theme song from the movie playing with her kids.”

Alfie also said that William told him that his own children were “jealous” about missing the premiere.

Ahead of the premiere, Cruise, 59, said he and the Duke of Cambridge “have a lot in common” when discussing their admiration for the royals.

‘We have much in common. We both love England and we are both aviators, we both love to fly,” she said.

The actor also expressed his joy at being back on the red carpet, saying, “I love what I do, I always have and I enjoy it even more now.” “Particularly after the last two years, having an event like this is extraordinary.”
