A revealing video of a former NRL star turned hopeful Labor MP dressed as a scantily clad policeman has surfaced just weeks before the NSW state election, but it won’t derail his political career.

Terry Campese, the retired Canberra Raiders captain turned Labor candidate for the NSW headquarters of Monaro in the south of the state, attended an adults-only party last year, wearing only blue underwear, a tie and a police hat. .

Campese, who is the nephew of Wallabies great David, had a decorated career as five-eighths, a half and a half, playing 139 games for the Raiders and one game for NSW and Australia.

A senior party official filed a complaint about the footage on January 10.

The complaint linked to the official’s alleged concerns about Mr Campese’s activities and claimed that his behavior was not acceptable to a potential NSW Labor representative.

NSW Labor told Daily Mail Australia that the party had determined that “no further action was required”.

“There was a misunderstanding about the original information request, once it was clarified answers were provided,” a spokesperson said.

“I am motivated to work in and for the community and I want to take that commitment to the next level,” Campese said in a statement about his candidacy.

Since his retirement from rugby league in 2016, Campese has been an ambassador for Canteen Cancer and Ronald McDonald House and patron of the Raising Hope Education Foundation.

“It is time for a fresh start in Monaro and I am determined to ensure that the Minns Labor government provides better schools and hospitals for our community,” Campese said.

Campese played 139 games for the Canberra Raiders between 2004 and 2014, even representing Australia once in 2008. He also played 26 games in the UK in the 2015-16 season for Hull Kingston Rovers.
