Man United manager Erik ten Hag REFUSES to comment on the charges Man City faces, insisting “others have to answer” to the Premier League allegations, and their rivals risk a points deduction or even expulsion.

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag declined to comment on Manchester City’s financial default charges during his news conference on Tuesday, insisting that “others have to answer” to the Premier League allegations.

The governing body accused United’s rivals on Monday of breaking financial rules more than 100 times over a nine-year period.

The charges against the reigning champions relate to financial information on revenue, details of coach and player remuneration, UEFA regulations, profitability and sustainability and cooperation with Premier League investigations.

When asked about the situation during his press conference, the Dutchman replied: ‘No, I don’t have an opinion. I’m not here to comment on financial regulations.

I’m a soccer manager, so I stick to that. Others have to answer.

An independent commission will now investigate the allegations made by the Premier League and if found guilty of the financial breaches, Manchester City could face a range of penalties including hefty fines, point deductions and even expulsion from the top flight.

Whether City would also be stripped of their titles remains to be seen. Should this happen, Manchester United could well add another trophy to their illustrious portfolio after finishing second to their neighbors during the 2017-18 campaign under José Mourinho.

Ten Hag’s side made the most of Manchester City’s slip up against Tottenham at the weekend, beating Crystal Palace 2-1 to move within five points of their second-place rivals.

Meanwhile, league leaders Arsenal suffered a surprise 1-0 defeat against Sean Dyche’s Everton, allowing United to climb within eight points of the Premier League top.

The Dutchman has thrived since the acrimonious departure of Cristiano Ronaldo in December, leading United through a purple streak of form to establish his team as outsiders in the title race.

Marcus Rashford, who scored the winner against the Eagles, is enjoying a particularly good run at Old Trafford at the moment, scoring an impressive six goals in seven league games.
