Bindi Irwin has reflected on the “true love” between her parents Steve and Terri on the 31st anniversary of the day her late father proposed to her.
The 24-year-old shared a throwback photo on Instagram on Friday of Steve, known around the world as ‘the crocodile hunter’, hugging his wife and their dog Sui.
The Irwins were decked out in their signature khaki uniforms as they grinned from ear to ear on the grounds of Australia Zoo in Queensland.

She captioned the photo: ‘Best friends. Soulmates. True love. The most amazing parents. And of course Sue.
Bindi’s followers flocked to the comments to share their memories of Steve and Terri’s love story, and also spoke about the conservationist’s legacy.
One fan wrote: “Your parents inspired me to be curious about the natural world.” Another said: “They are the reason I believe in soulmates.”

Steve died on September 4, 2006, at the age of 44, after a stingray pierced his chest while filming a documentary on the Great Barrier Reef.
Bindi was only eight years old at the time.

Following his death, Steve’s family, including daughter Bindi, widow Terri, son Robert and son-in-law Chandler Powell, have continued his conservation work at Australia Zoo.
Bindi opened up about her father’s legacy during an interview in 2019.
“He was the greatest wildlife warrior that ever lived,” he said, adding: “He dedicated his entire life to protecting wildlife and wild places.”
‘And I think it’s really special that on this day we can all remember that khaki [the colour of the Australia Zoo uniform] it’s not just a color, it’s an attitude.’
Bindi and her husband Chandler welcomed their daughter Grace Warrior on March 25, 2021, coinciding with the couple’s first wedding anniversary.
