Happy Valley’s James Norton Shows off Tommy Lee Royce’s Various Looks Over the Years

He played the evil criminal Tommy Lee Royce in all three seasons of the hard-hitting BBC crime drama.

And Happy Valley’s James Norton took a trip down memory lane on Sunday as he shared a look at his character’s various appearances over the years leading up to the show’s grand finale.

The 37-year-old actor shared a series of behind-the-scenes snaps of Tommy’s appearance in the second season of Happy Valley in which he sports a shaved head.

While stills from the current and final series of the drama see the actor rocking long, disheveled locks while playing the killer.

In the first set of images, James showed off his clean-shaven look, with some snaps seeing him as Tommy with his fellow inmates.

While others show him posing for selfies, as well as smiling with his co-stars.

Captioning his snaps, he wrote: ‘Some more BTS from series 2.’

A second set of images shows James, whose character Tommy is currently on the run from the law with a plan to kidnap his son Ryan, undergoing a hair transformation as he is given longer locks.

The star is seen posing for the snaps at various stages of the makeover, with James even putting her hair up in a bun at one point.

Captioning his most recent post, he shared: ‘New series, new look.’

Ahead of the latest episode of Happy Valley, James has been regaling fans with a series of flashback snapshots and nostalgia-inducing posts as he reminisced about his time on the BBC series.

It comes after Con O’Neill promised fans that the finale is sure to please loyal viewers of the drama series.

Con, 56, who plays Neil Ackroyd, appeared on Thursday’s episode of This Morning, where he detailed the episode with Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield.

He said: ‘The viewers are going to enjoy it. When I read the script for the last episode it blew my mind. Exit [Wainwright] He has written an extraordinary ending.

Holly then asked if it had been difficult for Con and his co-stars to keep the ending a secret.

He explained: ‘It’s not a difficult secret to keep, as we’ve lived with this program for a long time.

“The way Sally brought it home and finished it is extraordinary.”

He added of the popularity of the show in general: ‘Isn’t it wonderful to have a show that doesn’t just drop every episode and have that tension?

“It’s so refreshing that people are so interested.”

A trailer for the final episode of Happy Valley was released this week ahead of the upcoming finale on Sunday.

The 16-second clip shows the final confrontation between Catherine Cawood (Sarah Lancashire) and Tommy Lee Royce (James) after their daring escape from court before the police sergeant is shown breaking down in tears.

The trailer opens with Tommy’s son, Ryan (Rhys Connah), being questioned by the police about when he last had contact with his dangerous father.

A series of scenes of the police closing in on Tommy follows as Catherine is heard saying “he’s still out there, he’s going to get mad and he’s going to be even more desperate and dangerous.”

The short clip ends with a bloody Tommy appearing to hit someone on the ground and a final shot of Catherine crying.

Viewers tuned in for the penultimate episode of the BBC drama on Sunday night as Tommy revealed his big plans.

Tommy escaped at the end of the fourth episode of this series and fans found out in the fifth installment on Sunday that he was planning to elope to Marbella, with his son Ryan in tow.

Viewers admitted that they barely got to see the dramatic episode as everything lined up for a dramatic showdown between Tommy and Sargent Catherine as he reveals that he plans to kill her before flying to Spain.

The producers are said to be so desperate to keep the climax of the show a secret that they have filmed five different endings.

More than six million viewers are expected to tune in on Sunday to find out how the game of cat and mouse will be resolved.

The final episode of Happy Valley will air on BBC One at 9pm on Sunday.
