A teenager has revealed the final moments of a 16-year-old girl before she was mauled to death by a shark in a “completely random attack”.
The girl, who has not been named, is believed to have been jet skiing with friends when she saw a pod of dolphins in the Swan River north of Fremantle, Western Australia, at 3:30pm on Saturday.
She dove into the water and was swimming with the animals when she was attacked by the shark as her friends looked on in horror.
Perth resident Joshua Banks, 16, was swinging on the rope with six friends nearby before the gruesome attack unfolded.

The girl is believed to have been swimming with dolphins when she was attacked by the shark.
“My mates Jacob and Harry and I saw them – we actually saw them go over the bridge while (we were) swinging from the rope,” he said. the daily telegraph.
“They passed by and we saw them get off the jet skis near the beach and jump up and swim to shore quickly.”
The teen described what he saw as a “completely random attack” and said he and his friends were “shocked” by the event.
“We were completely unaware of this attack and had been swimming and jumping for about an hour to 45 minutes,” he said.
He added that his friends were “aware that it could have been us.”
Witnesses told police a man bravely dove into the water to pull the teen up, describing him as a “hero”, but paramedics were unable to save her.
Mr. Banks was swinging on the rope with a group of peers nearby and saw the teen and her friends on jet skis before they jumped into the water.

A local woman who saw the 16-year-old die after being attacked by what is believed to be a bull shark said she heard people screaming before the man jumped.
The girl’s family and friends were seen in shock near the river after she was pulled out.
Emergency services, including police boats, rushed to the scene near the Fremantle Traffic Bridge and pulled her out of the water with serious leg injuries.
Amid a spate of reports, WA Police initially thought she may have been injured by a boat propeller.
A local, who saw the 16-year-old die being attacked by what is believed to be a bull shark, said he heard people screaming before the man jumped.
WA Police said they received a triple zero call around 3:30pm and emergency services responded to the scene.
Acting Fremantle District Inspector Paul Robinson described the incident as “traumatic”.
“This is an extremely traumatic event for everyone involved and everyone who knew the young woman, so I won’t go into the scope of injuries.
“It is unusual for a shark to be this far out in the river… at this time an alert has been issued, a shark warning just to let people know that this incident has occurred.
“What they have informed us is that the problems with friends in the river, they were on jet skis, possibly a pod of dolphins had been seen nearby, and the young woman jumped into the water to swim near the dolphins.”
Police did not elaborate on his injuries and did not confirm which species of shark was involved in the attack.
It is the first deadly shark attack in the Swan River in a century.
