Former The Project Star Charlie Pickering Makes A VERY Blunt Statement About The Show
Former The Project star Charlie Pickering makes a VERY forceful statement about his time on the current affairs show.
Charlie Pickering has confessed that he has never been invited back to The Project after leaving almost a decade ago.
Speaking of this week’s edition of stellar Magazine, the 45-year-old said bluntly: “I haven’t been asked, and I don’t think I will.”
Pickering abruptly left the Channel 10 show to join ABC in 2014 because he felt working for the commercial network compromised his moral values.

However, the comedian did have some kind words to say about the struggling current affairs show.
“I will say it’s a great show, and it’s been a wonderful opportunity for some really smart and funny people to make great television,” he told the publication.
As for the recent mass exodus of the show’s biggest stars, Charlie said, “It’s natural for people to want to look at other opportunities.”

Pickering also believes that the show can survive recent changes in programming and declining ratings.
“The Today show has been going on for a long time and has had so many host changes,” he said.
Rising stars Sam Taunton and Michael Hing have joined The Project for 2023, along with Sarah and existing panelists Waleed Aly and Hamish Macdonald.
Georgie Tunny, who has already been a regular fixture on the current affairs show, also appears in the new season.
However, he believes the show can survive recent changes in programming and declining ratings. “The Today show has been going for a long time and has had so many host changes,” he said.
It follows the massive departure of stars Carrie Bickmore, Lisa Wilkinson and Peter Helliar from the troubled series last year.
Tommy Little was also quietly dropped as a regular panelist, but will appear on the show sporadically.
Meanwhile, Pickering hosts a new breakfast show on ABC Radio every Friday from 5:30 am to 8:00 am.
In 2015, he began hosting his own television show, The Weekly with Charlie Pickering, as well as the annual special The Yearly with Charlie Pickering.
