World’s WEIRST car collection: Abu Dhabi’s ‘Rainbow Sheikh’ has 200 vehicles, from a wheeled carpet and a giant Humvee to an amphibious MPV

  • Sheikh Hamad bin Hamdan is said to have seven Mercedes 500 SELs
  • He built the world’s largest truck, eight times the size of the Dodge Power Wagon

The World’s Weirdest Car Collection includes over 200 vehicles ranging from a wheeled carpet and giant Humvee to an amphibious MPV.

Sheikh Hamad bin Hamdan, also known as the ‘Rainbow Sheikh’, is a member of the Abu Dhabi Ruling Family.

It is believed that he painted seven Mercedes 500 SELs in different colors of the rainbow, which he stores in a giant pyramid.

The Arab sheikh has a penchant for doing things on a grand scale. He built the world’s largest truck, eight times the size of the Dodge Power Wagon, with four bedrooms in the cab.

Hamad built a camper in the shape of a gigantic globe that is exactly 1 million times the size of the real Earth.

He owns the world’s largest Hummer H1, with stairs, a toilet with sink and a guest room with 360 degree views on two floors.

The colossal vehicle measures 21.6 ft (6.6 m) in height, 46 ft (14 m) in length, and 20 ft (6 m) in width, and is fully rideable.

It is built on the frame of a US Army LARC-LX steel-hulled amphibious cargo vehicle and has four diesel engines – one for each wheel.

Hamad was recently spotted in a Mercedes W128 with monster truck wheels.

In addition to his lavish display of wealth, he has become a well-known philanthropist in medicine.

He supplied a complete kidney stone operating room to a public hospital in Morocco, where he continues to fund the staff.

His enviable collection of motorcycles also includes several vintage Mini Coopers and replicas of 1885 Benz Patent Motorcars.

His personal fortune reportedly nearly rivals that of the Saudi king with an estimated worth of $20 billion.

Hamad’s money is said to come from his family’s control of Abu Dhabi’s oil reserves.

In 2011, he had workmen carve his name on his own private island in the UAE, called Al Futaisi, and sculpted waterways in the sand.
