Blackburn are appealing against the EFL’s decision to reject requests for two transfers on deadline day.
The rovers were reportedly targeting Nottingham Forest’s Lewis O’Brien and Rochdale’s Ethan Brierley but failed to complete deals in time.
After seeing both applications rejected, Blackburn is set to file an appeal with the EFL.
A statement from the club on Blackburn’s website read: “One of the deals was a very ambitious target and it was only confirmed that he was able to join us on Tuesday afternoon.”
Despite the club’s best efforts to complete all required elements of this loan transfer, due to events we believe are beyond our control, the submission deadline was delayed and, despite the club’s indication of the Extenuating reasons for the delayed submission, our application has been rejected today by the EFL.

Nottingham Forest’s Lewis O’Brien is believed to have been one of the transfers rejected by the EFL.
“Our application for the second deal, for the permanent transfer of a promising young player, was also delayed due to unsigned documents and technical problems the club encountered at the time of submission.
‘Once again, the EFL has not accepted that these issues were an impediment to the documentation being submitted on time and has also rejected this request.
“The club will now appeal the EFL’s decision to reject both applications and submit the documents before the deadline of Tuesday 7 February.”
