Lakers ticket prices soar near $2K as LeBron James approaches Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s all-time scoring record…with milestone likely to be broken against Thunder or Bucks
Ticket prices to potentially see LeBron James break Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s scoring record are approaching $2,000, with the Lakers star just 63 points shy of the record.
James scored 26 points Thursday in a 112-111 win over the Pacers, and now looks likely to surpass Abdul-Jabbar’s 38,387 mark next week against the Thunder or Bucks at home.
Taking part in those games is very expensive right now, with the average price to watch the Oklahoma City and Milwaukee games, respectively, being $1,757.81 and $1,931.32, according to Tickets YES.
For context, the Lakers’ only game before the Thunder contest, against the Pelicans, has a ticket price as low as $59. according to Seatgeek.
That game is highly unlikely to be the one in which James breaks the record, barring a Herculean effort from the 38-year-old.
LeBron James scored 26 points against the Pacers on Thursday as the Lakers won 112-11
Now it seems very likely that James will break the scoring record in the next two or three games.
And tickets to see ‘The King’ reach that milestone are extremely expensive these days.
Based on the legendary striker’s season averages, it’s (very) a bit optimistic to expect him to break the Thunder in-game record.
James is averaging 30.1 points per game and would need to average 31.5 over the next two games to reach the milestone against Oklahoma City.
If James somehow fails to reach 63 points in the next three games, or sits out, tickets to his next game at the Warriors will sell for an average price of $1,131.23.
James has also been making progress in another statistical category of late, as he moved up to fourth on the NBA assists list against the Knicks on Tuesday.
James had 11 assists in the overtime win and passed both Mark Jackson and Steve Nash at night.
