Brittany Hockley has opened up about her terrifying experiences with her drinking, saying it’s happened to her three times, and once by a bartender.

The influencer said in Picking up KIIS FM On Friday, date rape drug use is ‘much more prevalent’ than people realize.

He discussed the issue with his co-hosts Laura Byrne and Mitch Churi after actor and singer Hugh Sheridan opened up about being drugged five years ago.

Hugh, who is non-binary and uses they/them pronouns, said they were drugged by a couple, one of whom was his friend, and left incapacitated for eight hours in an unknown apartment.

Brittany said her drink had been tampered with three times, once by a bartender serving the drink, stressing that sometimes there’s no way to stop it from happening.

By the way, I’ve been drugged three times. I know Laura has had a situation. I have so many female friends who have been in this situation as well,” she said.

‘One of mine was on a date [and] one of mine was a bartender so that concerned me a lot because you can be as careful as you want covering your drinks and walking around a bar but if it comes from behind the bar when you order it is out of your control. ‘

Brittany said she suspects that many spiking cases go unreported to police because the victims can’t remember the details of what happened to them.

“It’s so problematic but so common and I think a lot of people don’t know how common it is because it’s not widely reported,” he said.

“I know when it happened to me I didn’t do it because there was a part of me that was like, ‘Well, what are they going to do about it anyway? How are they going to prove it?’ And you just think that and I think most women think that unless there’s a way for them to feel like they can be 100 percent heard, then something can be done about it.

Laura added that she hopes everyone is “really aware” of the fact that people aren’t just attacked by strangers in nightclubs.

“It doesn’t just happen when you’re in a nightclub or out with strangers,” she said. “Like, my experience was with someone I thought was a friend.”

‘And in this situation with Hugh Sheridan was someone [they] the thought was [their] friend. was someone [they] I knew and I think it is something that is very underrepresented and not talked about enough.

“It’s very brave of Hugh to come forward and share this story.”
