The coronation is an “impossible situation” for King Charles because he is caught between his two sons, says a royal expert on our Palace Confidential talk show

The King finds himself in an “impossible situation” regarding the Coronation, as he is caught between his two sons in a vicious family feud.

That’s the view of Mail on Sunday editor-general Charlotte Griffiths, who says she understands why he might turn to a figure like the Archbishop of Canterbury for help.

“It’s an impossible situation, you can see why they want a third party,” he tells the show.

“It sounds like he’s probably been trying to figure this out for a number of years, but I think he probably had the grace to say ‘actually, look, I can’t do this, so I’m going to have to get someone else to do it.'” help…”

“There’s also the added complication that Charles cares about William, because it seems like William doesn’t particularly want Harry there, so he has to keep both parties happy, which is an impossible thing to do.”

The royal editor of the Daily Mail, Rebecca English, believes that mending the relationship may be beyond the capabilities of the church leader.

“I think it’s going to take more than a man of God, I have to say, I really do, even one as anointed as he is,” he tells the show.

“I also think it’s a family matter, because at the end of the day, Harry won’t have an official role, as we understand it, at the coronation, so he’ll be there as his father’s guest.”

Additionally, our panel looks at the latest developments in the Prince Andrew situation and examines the criticism on social media of the Prince and Princess of Wales for their visit to a food bank.
