Hugh Sheridan has detailed a horrific experience at the hands of someone they thought was a friend.
The 37-year-old actor, who is non-binary and uses they/them pronouns, says a couple drugged them with date rape medication and left them incapacitated for eight hours in a strange apartment.
“It didn’t happen when I was 16 or 17. I knew one of the people (involved), I just never thought it would happen, and it was a very scary situation,” Hugh told 88.3FM radio show. Sounds good with Donna Demaio.

‘But once the drugs started to wear off and I realized I was in trouble, I kept going ‘As if!’ It was like, ‘Oh my gosh, how can this be happening to me? How could this situation occur? What do they think they are getting away with?
Hugh managed to escape from the property, located in Sydney’s Double Bay, and sought refuge at his sister’s house in Randwick.
‘I have to go out. I had to escape. When I left I had no phone, no wallet, no shoes,” Hugh said.

The star never pressed charges in the incident and doesn’t remember what happened while they were unconscious, but wanted to speak out to raise awareness.
It comes after Hugh revealed they won’t be rushing into their next relationship after details of a secret nine-year marriage to a ‘well-known’ artist were revealed.
“I’m very single at the moment and I’m taking it easy,” the actor and singer told Daily Mail Australia.

The two men had been dating for several years before secretly getting married. At the time, Sheridan was not publicly out of the closet.
