Arsenal target Iván Fresneda was left out of Real Valladolid’s squad against Valencia yesterday as they look to decide between the Gunners and Borussia Dortmund.
Both clubs are said to have agreed a £13m deal for the 18-year-old, with the defender set to be loaned out to Valladolid for the remainder of the season as part of the deals.
Fresneda has become a fixture in José Rojo Martín’s team since September, making 12 appearances in all competitions.
Ivan Fresneda could be on his way to Arsenal or Borussia Dortmund in a £13m deal
Earlier this week, the right-back missed training at the club’s base in the north-west of the country, with reports citing that he was “absent due to inconvenience”.
However, it is believed to be only a matter of days before Fresneda decides whether his future lies in the Premier League or the Bundesliga, and Dortmund believe they could offer the teenager a clearer career path.
The Gunners are ready to let Cedric Soares finalize a deal with Fulham, so a strike to Fresneda would give Mikel Arteta additional long-term options at full-back.
Mikel Arteta is keen to add more names to his title-chasing squad before Tuesday’s deadline
So far in the window, Arteta has been able to incorporate Leandro Trossard into his attack after his arrival from Brighton, as well as center-back Jakub Kiwior from Spezia.
They are also eager to return to the Gaviotas in their search for midfielder Moises Caicedo. Arsenal rejected a £60m offer from the south coast club last week but are expected to return with a new offer.
Especially after the Ecuadorian signaled his intention to leave Brighton by posting a statement on social media asking if he would “take advantage of this magnificent opportunity”.
