Hundreds criticize ‘loser’ father for complaining about wife ‘nagging’ him for money while on maternity leave: ‘I won’t let him treat me like an ATM’

  • A new father claims his wife is asking him for money while she is on maternity leave
  • The couple split expenses 50/50 despite the fact that she earned less while on leave.
  • The father only contributes as much as his wife despite earning much more

A new father has come under fire online for complaining that his wife is “always nagging him for money” while on maternity leave with their four-month-old twins.

in a to post Asked on Reddit by a woman named Jessica, who knows the couple if she was wrong to call the father, Mark, a “vagrant” for contributing to the household finances well below what he actually earns.

Reddit users agreed with Jessica’s stance, saying the man should be willing to give more to his family.

Mark and his partner Caitlyn had agreed to split household expenses 50/50 while the new mom worked, but now her parents’ payments are just a fraction of what she used to earn.

Despite Caitlyn’s shortcomings, Mark sticks to the original agreement and complained to Jessica that Caitlyn “always nags him and asks for his money.”

“He said he’s afraid she’s going to start treating him like an ATM but he won’t let her,” Jessica wrote.

“Caitlyn is looking after four-month-old twins all day on her own and Mark is only financially contributing the same amount as Caitlyn’s maternity pay, even though he makes six times as much.”

Jessica told Mark that he was being ‘lazy’, but he stood up for himself, refusing to believe he was wrong.

“He said the money is good enough for his family and he will end up using the money he saved to buy a house,” he said.

“He said he’s building his future and I don’t dare call him a slacker.”

She asked if she was wrong to call him a slacker despite being present in his children’s lives and contributing financially.

Hundreds took advantage of the comments to criticize the father for “degrading” his partner.

‘He has the same responsibilities to support his children and his mother; and not only is he disrespecting the enormous amount of unpaid work she is doing to keep their babies safe and sound, but he is belittling his wife’s character by reducing her to nothing more than a financial contribution to the household.” said one user.

‘If he didn’t marry a beggar, then he shouldn’t force her to behave as such because of a situation where he had an equal share in putting her up.’

“Absolutely cannot understand these men,” wrote a second.

‘It should be proportional to their salaries. Earn five times as much, you should contribute a LOT more. Are you going to buy the house in your name? You need to speak to a lawyer as soon as possible,” a third responded.

“If she divorces him, she’ll realize how much child support really is,” another noted.

He’s worse than a bum. He is financially abusive,’ someone added.
