Tommy Fury and Jake Paul are SEVERED for safety after the rivals came close to blows during a fierce confrontation ahead of their highly anticipated showdown in Saudi Arabia next month.
Tommy Fury and Jake Paul had to part ways during their matchup to promote their upcoming fight next month.
Following two previous cancellations, the long-awaited fight will kick off when the pair meet on February 26 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Prior to the light heavyweight clash between Anthony Yarde and Artur Beterbiev, which was won by the latter via stoppage, tempers flared between Paul and Fury.
Tommy Fury and Jake Paul came face to face to promote their fight in London on Saturday
Just seconds after Paul entered the center of the ring, he went toe-to-toe with Fury, prompting shoving from both fighters before security intervened to separate them.
The pair’s rivalry began after Paul’s first win over Tyron Woodley in August 2021 when he faced the Brit, who was on the undercard that night.
Two previously planned fights between the pair were cancelled, with Fury pulling out due to a broken rib the first time around and difficulty entering the US last summer.
The pair had to part ways during their showdown to promote their upcoming fight next month.
The pressure will be on Fury though, after his brother and heavyweight champion Tyson joked that Tommy “can stay in Saudi Arabia” if he can’t “lie” to Paul.
However, Fury’s father, John, believes that Paul will not be a threat, as he insisted that his son knock him out.
He said: ‘Do I see Jake Paul as a threat in this fight? No, absolutely not. I see him as a heavy bag with arms that is going to get knocked out.
We’ll see what he’s made of, but unless he sees a totally different man step into the ring, he doesn’t have a prayer. He is playing a strong young man who has a big point to prove. One is a natural fighter who can go deep, we’ve had a few gym wars with world-class men and it’s a joy to watch.
‘We have a chance to shut that big mouth of Jake Paul. He is hiding very well. We are not looking to win by points. We’re away from home and I think he’s a co-promoter, so we’re looking to knock him out.’
The long-awaited fight between Paul and Fury will take place next month in Saudi Arabia
Fury’s father, John, has insisted that Paul is not a threat and that his son will win by knockout.
Paul will be looking to maintain his unbeaten record against a professional boxer for the first time, having previously faced former UFC fighters, a former NBA player and one of his fellow YouTubers.
His most recent win came against Anderson Silva in October of last year, when he ousted the MMA legend via unanimous decision.
Meanwhile, Fury outpointed Daniel Bocianski when he last laced up his gloves in April of last year.
