Dele Alli puts on a Man of the Match display for Besiktas as he scores in an unusual start… before sending a message to his critics by putting his fingers in their ears and silencing fans of the Turkish giants as he celebrates
- Dele Alli has endured a miserable loan spell in Turkey at Everton’s Besiktas
- He has received great criticism from coaches and fans and has barely played
- But he shone on Friday and scored, before sending a message to those critics
Dele Alli sent a message to his critics when he scored and put on a Man of the Match display for Besiktas, before “shutting up” fans of the Turkish team after their win on Friday night.
The English midfielder was excellent in their 3-0 Turkish Super League win over Alanyaspor after being given an unusual start by manager Senol Gunes.
It was a much-needed performance for the former Tottenham star who has endured a miserable spell in Turkey and struggled to make an impact, appearing just 11 times before Friday, despite the fanfare his arrival received.

He then seemed to send a message to critics by plugging his fingers into his ears when celebrating.
It also comes just weeks after Gunes criticized Alli, stating that she “doesn’t deserve to play.”
But on Friday he shone in an action-packed display in midfield, scoring just his second goal for the Turkish giants, after former Everton team-mate Cenk Tosun scored twice to put them 2-0 up.
Alli took advantage of a loose pass from the Alanyaspor defense and pinched before pushing the ball home past goalkeeper Yusuf Karagoz.
After scoring, the 26-year-old ran towards the raving Bestikas fans before sitting cross-legged on the ground alongside his Welinton team-mate.
At full time, Alli gleefully ‘calmed down’ the Besiktas fans as they celebrated the three points.
He then plugged both fingers into his ears, in a clear message to his critics in recent months.
Alli was substituted on 86 minutes and received a standing ovation from the Bestikas supporters, before appearing to deliver another message in regulation time.
As his team celebrated on the pitch, Alli gleefully ‘shut up’ the Besiktas faithful.
The 26-year-old’s performance comes after news broke earlier this month that Besiktas reportedly wants to send Dele Alli back to Everton due to his problems, but any return seems unlikely anymore. that there is not believed to be a break clause in your loan agreement.
The report stated that there was an expectation by Everton that if Besiktas canceled the loan early, they would still be required to pay his salary in full and the previously agreed £1 million loan fee.
Comments last week about Alli not deserving to play were not the first time Gunes had publicly called out the midfielder, with the manager criticizing the Englishman for his ineffective performances in November after taking him off at half-time against Umraniyespor.
It was a much-needed performance from the 26-year-old after his struggles thus far in Turkey.
Besiktas boss Senol Gunes has been highly critical of the former Tottenham star this season
‘I couldn’t affect the players [yet]now I can easily communicate with them, but we haven’t communicated with Dele Alli yet,’ Gunes had said, shortly after arriving as manager.
“Let’s not talk about Dele Alli as a player, but he is below expectations in terms of efficiency.”
Alli was then booed from the pitch by his own fans in his team’s last game before Christmas after he was substituted in the 29th minute during a Turkish Cup match.
He then posted on social media about his love for soccer and how he had no intention of giving up the sport.
Bestikas moved up to third in the Super Lig with that win on Friday and has won five games in a row after a very disappointing start to the season under previous boss Valerien Ismael.
