Adam Scott reveals the ‘traumatic’ interaction he had with his Boy Meets World co-star

It took 29 years, but Adam Scott finally got closure on an awkward moment after wrapping up the second season of boy meets world in 1994.

Speaking with former co-stars Rider Strong, Will Friedle and Danielle Fishel at the Pod meets the worldScott, who played Griffin ‘Griff’ Hawkins, recalled an ‘awful’ interaction on set that has been bugging him for nearly three decades.

Scott detailed the events leading up to him being seemingly snubbed by Strong, who played Shawn Hunter, when he received a congratulatory hug after filming the final scene.

Scott said he was backstage watching the season two finale being filmed with Blake Soper and Ethan Suplee, who had played Griff’s supporters.

“I don’t know if you remember this, Rider, but literally, this has been bothering me for 29 years,” Scott, 49, told the three hosts.

He continued, “I was with (co-stars) Blake (Soper) and Ethan (Suplee). Rider, you were there with a different group of people, but we were all coming together knowing that the last scene was about to end.

The Northern California native said that once the scene ended, the cast and crew erupted in cheers.

“Blake and Ethan high five and hug each other, and they come up to me and high five and they’re just cheering,” he explains, adding, “Then Blake and Ethan walk up to you, Rider, and they high five and hug you.” and after they do that, I’m like, “Hey, congratulations, dude,” I give you a high five and I walk in and give you a hug.

But just as the celebration was heating up, Scott reached out to Strong for what he thought was a friendly hug.

“And while I’m doing that, you push me away and give me this look like, ‘Wait a second, who (expletive) are you? and then you run away,'” he adds. “I remember being like, ‘oh no no no! I’m sorry! What just happened? No no no.'”

All three hosts seemed surprised by the story, leading Strong to reveal that he had no recollection of the incident, adding that he “generally hugs”.

‘Are you serious?! Why would I do that?!’ he asked her, before saying that he didn’t remember the moment at all.

“I’m so glad you don’t remember that,” Scott replied. “Because to some extent that means it wasn’t a traumatic experience for you.

Later in the podcast, the story came up again, with Scott confessing that he may have blown it out of proportion in his mind over the years.

The coming-of-age sitcom ran for seven seasons on ABC from September 1993 to May 2000.

The series focused on Cory Matthews (played by Ben Savage) and his friends and family, as he progresses from childhood to adulthood.

The cast also included the likes of William Daniels, Betsy Randle, Lee Norris, Lily Nicksay, William Russ, Danielle Fishel, Anthony Tyler Quinn, Alex Désert, Matthew Lawrence, Trina McGee-Davis, and Trina McGee-Davis, among others.
